Pathania is the Clan name of Chandravanshi Rajputs who ruled Pathankot State which was found by Maharaja Jhetpal Tomar who was the younger brother of Raja Anangpal Tomar, founder of Delhi. Pathania Clan is branch of Tomar Rajputs and the clan is called Pandi which means Descendents of Pandavas. Pathankot State

'In Vishnupuran & Brihad Jataka, the area is known as Audumbara due to abundance of Audumbar trees ruled by Dharaghosha whose Coins have have been found.
