Subotica (Суботица, Hungarian: Szabadka, German: Mariatheresiopel) is a city in northern Serbia and Montenegro, in the autonomous region of Vojvodina of the Republic of Serbia. It is located at 46.07° North, 19.68° East, about 10 km from the border with Hungary. It is the second largest city of the region next to Novi Sad, with a population of 100,386.

Its name stems from word "Saturday" in Serbian language. Surroundings of Subotica are mainly farmland but the city itself is an important Serbian industrial and transportation centre. It is the administrative center of the North Backa District of Serbia.
