"A lead section should contain no more than four well-composed paragraphs" --WP:MOSLEAD

Misplaced Pages:Manual of Style/Lead section says "As a general rule of thumb, a lead section should contain no more than four well-composed paragraphs and be carefully sourced as appropriate."

The lead of this article is far too long. I am not going to edit the page (I still have setting myself on fire as a less painful option) but could you who are working on this page please come to an agreement on a lead that is a reasonable length? --Guy Macon (talk) 13:44, 8 January 2021 (UTC)

Guy Macon, you may be retired but the lead section has now been condensed. --Wow (talk) 02:26, 21 October 2021 (UTC)

He was born into the Bush family: his father, George H. W. Bush, was the late 41st president of the United States from 1989 to 1993. 2601:2C3:680:3310:5C84:3AB9:E708:4ACC (talk) 03:38, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Not done: I don't think the fact that his father is dead is pertinent information that needs to be added into the lead paragraph, and adding it in as you did makes the sentence clunky and harder to read. Volteer1 (talk) 04:50, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

As the eldest son of the dearly departed Barbara and George H. W. Bush, he is the second son of a former United States president to himself become president, with the first being John Quincy Adams, the son of John Adams. 2601:2C3:680:3310:5C84:3AB9:E708:4ACC (talk) 03:47, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Not done: We don't really use euphemisms like "dearly departed" (see: WP:EUPHEMISM), on top of "dearly" probably being a NPOV issue. Regardless, that his parents are dead I don't think is particularly pertinent information that needs to be included in the lead. Volteer1 (talk) 04:51, 26 February 2021 (UTC)

Merger proposal

The following discussion is closed. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section. A summary of the conclusions reached follows.
The result of this discussion was to not merge. The events already listed in Security incidents involving George W. Bush could be expanded in addition to merging Bush shoeing incident into the page. Wow (talk) 00:00, 23 October 2021 (UTC); edited 05:26, 23 October 2021 (UTC)

The Security incidents involving George W. Bush page should be merged into the security incidents section as it is too short to warrant its own page. Furthermore, the Flight 93 incident on there has nothing to do with Bush as he was in Florida and not Washington, D.C. like Cheney was. --Wow (talk) 20:04, 21 October 2021 (UTC)

Oppose Bush’s article is already extremely long. Making it even longer would be counterproductive. DogsRNice (talk) 21:44, 22 October 2021 (UTC)
