Religious & racial beliefs
Speight has, on several occassion caused outrage, and mild respect, with highly controversial live, unscripted rants concerning race and religion. On one infamous occassion live on SMarteenies he broke into an extremely angry diatribe about Asylum seekers and Catholics, saying:
"...they'll always be here, kids. There's no way of getting rid of these sponging bastards! The Irish and the Asians, they'll bloody well get you, mark my words. They'll fucking kill you. Don't bother making art anymore, instead, ask mummy and daddy for a knife or a gun so you can take Britain back from the paddies and the pakis! It's an absolute disgrace, I was trying to buy a box of felt-tips the other day, and a prawn sandwich, and the was this mic took 3 bloody minutes to decide what fucking cigarettes to buy. Then when I get to the counter, the bloke serving me has a bleeding turban, I mean come on! Is this what the war was for? So more sikh arseholes and Irish and Asian bastards can prevent us from buying prawn sandwiches and felt-tip fucking pens?! Is it?!
The broadcast was immediately cut, and as a result OFCOM recieved more that twenty complaints about the incident, and 13 congratulatory cans of Fanta. Speight still has his job today, but he was made to clean the SMart floors for three weeks after the incident, and to make his job harder, the shows directs would cover the usually white studio floor with litres of paint, sometimes even right infront of Speight, while shouting "Yeah, yeah! What shade of purple is this? Eh? What shade?! Is it fucking turquoise? No it fucking isn't! You daft cunt!".
Trivia
He is left-handed.
