He defeated the abyssinian Army of the king Lebne Dengel. With his victory Ahmed Guurey ruled as Sultan of the Empire of Adal (knwon today as Awdal) for over 45 years over the Somali, Abyssian, Eritreans and Ormo territories thus converting most Oromos and Eritreans to Islam.
