Revision as of 11:51, 4 March 2007 by Geni (talk | contribs) (create)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)This page is designed to explain how the "fromowner" systems works and gives some guidance as to it's use.
How it Works
The fromowner system involves a number of elements:
- first the image Image:Replace this image1.svg. The image is a vector image 10x in size. the upshot of this is that a size much be given when it is placed in an article. The image is PD and derived from Image:Pioneer plaque line-drawing of a human male.svg.
- The image page of this image redirects to Misplaced Pages:Fromowner. This page contains basic details of what the upload system is for and provides a link to the upload page.
- This is an alternative version of special:upload that can be found at MediaWiki:Uploadtext/fromowner.
- The licence selections can be found at MediaWiki:Licenses/fromowner. They are deliberately kept short in order to keep things simple.
- The multi licensed template used is Template:MultilicenseFromowner
- This adds Category:Fromowner
- So far the majority of uploads have been copyvios. As a result those that are not copyvios should have their tag replaced with {{Multilicensefromownerviewed}}
- This results in Template:Multilicensefromownerviewed being placed on the image and the image being place in Category:Fromownerviewed.
Notes on use
The Image:Replace this image1.svg should be placed on articles about people that have no current free image. The image should be placed at the top so as the image code is visible when the edit tab is clicked.
notes
- This is part of a system in the software originally designed to allow alternative languages in the interface see MediaWiki:Uploadtext/ru for example.
