this article is totally unencyclopaedic

several facts are disputed here..

  • Did ministers take part in the events ? Are there clear evidences other than a book written by a tamil eelamist and a unknown Sinhalese author ?
  • It was the election time and UNP had a strong voting base in Jaffna, So ministers were there to support its candidate.
  • A tamil MP who just switched sides was gunned down by the LTTE , and his supporters were mad at that time
  • Can some one prove , that the mobs were all Sinhalese ? Were there any tamils among them ?

care to answer these ??Iwazaki 08:03, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

FYI: Patrick Peebles is an American author. Please let me recommend you to check this book out and read it for yourself. Personally, I feel it sways too much to the governments side. However, he does not fail to mention about the burning of the Jaffna library. This article is about the burning of the Jaffna library. It is not about an election, or about MPs switching to what ever side, or what not. I have just quoted from a couple of books from a local library. One author is Tamil, while the other is Anglo. One author may be pro-Tamil, while the other author seems pro-government. Therefore, I have used sources from both sides. If you would like to contribute to the article with sources, then please do. If you can find any proper sources that states that the mobs were not Sinhalese, then go right ahead. I do not understand why you would seem upset about this. If it is a personal issue, or if you have friends from Sri Lanka, I understand. But, please do not take it out on Misplaced Pages. Hope you are not upset with me for what ever reason, I do not know. if I write a book saying there were no Sinhalese among the mobs, can I use it as a citation ?? Why would we take the worst things written about something and used it as a citation ?? I am not disputing the incident..BUT I dont think the article gives a clear picture of the incident, its highly biased !! It seems like you are having a problem understanding what i wrote here..People who criticise the UNP ministers, do it purely because of their presence in Jaffna, while failing to state why they were there..UNP ministers were there to support their candidates and they have nothing to do with the incident.

And please stop saying irrelevant things at Article-talk pages. If you want to discuss my personal details please drop me a mail, will you ? thanksIwazaki 09:50, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Calm down. Wiki Raja 09:53, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
excuse me ? ? Iwazaki 09:56, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
I don't understand what you're upset about. Did I say something to offend you? Wiki Raja 09:57, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Not to me..BUT you are doing a great harm to our Misplaced Pages by blindly reverting this article..Please don't do it if you cant answer to the issues I raised here.Iwazaki 10:00, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Can you answer those questions then? Sorry for the confusion. If you would like, you can go ahead and revert the page back to the way you had it. Regards. Wiki Raja 10:07, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
But before you revert back, can you answer the questions you have posted or post any referenced material to back your questions? Wiki Raja 11:00, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
I guess not. Wiki Raja 20:08, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

<deindent>I was looking at the sources for this article, and they are all just ridiculous, POV websites. Tamilnation, WSWS.org, independentsl.com? There have been so many indepedent news reports published about this incident, why not use them? So if the current text isn't cited using reliable sources in a reasonable time, I will have to delete them to ensure the accuracy of Misplaced Pages. --snowolfD4 11:05, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Will find sources. Just tell Iwakizi to calm down. Wiki Raja 11:36, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Instead of using Tamil Nation and other websites as references, let me suggest that it gets put in the external links section. Wiki Raja 11:40, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Nonsense is nonsense. Whether used as citations or external links. WP has no place for nonsense. Sarvagnya 20:27, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Sources used in this and several other related articles

not just thi article. I see these nonsense source used for citations across all srilankan terrorists/terrorism related articles. Even some tamil related articles. It is high time we started cleaning up this mess. Does anybody know how to get a source blacklisted? We should push for getting all these Tamilnet etc., blacklisted from WP. Misplaced Pages is not some suicide bomber's mouthpiece. Sarvagnya 20:27, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

Misplaced Pages is a neutral place and not some racist propoganda machine. Wiki Raja 20:35, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
FYI: Tamilnet is used as a source in news agencies such as CNN, Reuters, AP, and many other newspapers. So, why would WP blacklist Tamilnet? This is a NPOV site, not a POV interest group. Wiki Raja 21:12, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Dear sarvagnya, you couldn't have said it better ! most of the citations in Sri Lanka relates issues come from those so called tamil-something sites, such as tamil-net,tamil-canadian,tamil-nation and blabla..These sites are not only absurd but also lower the quality of the Misplaced Pages with their nonsense..Iwazaki 00:33, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

Tamilnet is patently a partisan source and unacceptable. So is Lankaweb on the Sinhalese side. They are clearly ethnic lobbying sites. Blnguyen (bananabucket) 05:57, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
