Robidas incident of March 17, 2007

This section is likely to be a point of contention. A "sucker punch" is unexpected, and surely Robidas did not expect the blow, but the violence was compounded by the circumstance of Robidas' hard skate at Tootoo as he was turning around. "Sucker punch" implies a sneakiness or forethought that could not have been the case in the very short duration of this circumstance.

I've removed it - it's not permanently encyclopedic - even the game writeup barely mentions it - it has one sentence under "Game Notes" on ESPN.com . A double-minor for roughing is not worthy of space on Misplaced Pages. Yankees76 04:47, 18 March 2007 (UTC)

Ethnicity

It's well know that Tootoo is of Inuit background, but someone at the page Ukrainian Canadian claimed his mother was of Ukrainian background. Can anyone comment on this? Kevlar67 10:09, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

I doubt it, but it might be true. Tootoo's family is heavily in politics, and lots of Inuit have mixed background. He's Hunter Tootoo cousin and George Hickes' nephew. His family looks pretty Inuit to me, although a photo is no proof. --Diderot 13:17, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
Well, actually on further research, there are certainly enough websites saying that his mother is Ukrainian, including a NY Times article. Heh - who knew? --Diderot 13:24, 15 March 2006 (UTC)
I am fairly sure that his mother is Ukrainian. I know of a Ukrainian organization that was trying to get him as a speaker back in 2004 because of this. -- JamesTeterenko 16:43, 15 March 2006 (UTC)

I knew the family personally, and yes, his mother is definately of Ukrainian descent. Good Ninja

Bias

This page makes him seem like one of the NHL's top players... I think it needs a little work done, considering Tootoo is a disgrace to hockey... —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Burgz33 (talkcontribs) 04:29, 20 March 2007.

Where did you get that vibe from? I don't see anything that claims him to be one of the nhl's top players.--E tac 05:15, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree, can you point out the bits that lead to the idea that he's one of the top players. And at the same time provide a source for the disgrace remark? CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 15:39, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

Besides his stats, he just got suspended for 5 games for punching a player.. sounds like a disgrace to me. Hes got such an elaborate page when other league players like Jan von Arx (HC DAVOS) don't even have one.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Burgz33 (talkcontribs)

Are we talking about same Davos team that boasts such NHL "stars" as Alexandre Daigle, Josef Marha and Yves Sarault? You may argue all you like, but Jordin Tootoo skates circles around Jan Von Arx - however you're more than welcome to create and article for him. Don't forget to add a section about his 6-month drug suspension from June 2006 though.
Tootoo has represented his country and is the first Inuk player to play in the NHL. He's a hero to his people - Von Arx hasn't even been drafted, and never will be. Yankees76 03:20, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Tootoo is a hero to his people by doing late hits and when he actually DOES drop the gloves(rare, he likes to skate around and make other teams take penalties) He gets his ass beat. So MANY NHL Players have played for the Davos. Reto van Arx played with the Blackhawks for a brief amount of time, and Josef Marha is freaking incredible for a person of his caliber. You can't compare a forward to a defenseman, anyway.
Tootoo - 108 NHL Games::18 Points
Marha - 159 NHL Games::53 Points
R. van Arx - 19 NHL Games::4 Points
Daigle - 616 NHL Games::327 Points
J. van Arx - 386 Games (With Davos)::87 Points (Pretty damn good for a defenseman whos only 5'7")
Tootoo = Disgrace
New NHL Rules = Disgrace
Any Tootoo fan = Disgrace

I would of loved to see Tootoo play against Tie Domi, Tony Twist, Reed Low, etc, etc.

Learn your facts, little ones. ---burgz. 07:29, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Just found this. Tootoo getting owned by Reed Low. http://youtube.com/watch?v=2Pvn_b8lSz8 --- This is what happens when you face people who drop the gloves for a living. ---burgz. 07:51, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

OK could you please leave out the personal attacks and racist remarks. Please read Misplaced Pages:No personal attacks. Again, can you please point out the parts of the article that indicate he is one of the best players in the NHL? I'm not a great supporter of Tootoo but edit tthis page because it fits in with my interests. So if it does indicate that he is one of the best players in the NHL then I want it changed. All you have done is make comparisions between him and other players. There are plenty of great sites where you could do that but this isn't it. CambridgeBayWeather (Talk) 17:04, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
I agree this argument is ridiculous, and I'm not even sure why we're comparing a current NHLer with past players/draft busts or career minor leaguers. There's nothing in this article that indicates Tootoo is anything that he isn't, and there's certainly no bias either. And as per WP:LIVING, Unsourced or poorly sourced contentious material — whether negative, positive, or just highly questionable — about living persons should be removed immediately and without discussion from Misplaced Pages articles, talk pages, user pages, and project space - meaning that all this POV about Tootoo being a disgrace is subject to deletion at any time and will be removed. Yankees76 17:35, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

First off, where did I say a racist remark? You must be blind. I'm saying hes got such an elaborate page compared to the same age of players who are ten times better. How are you a supporter of one of the dirtiest players in the game? You're a disgrace.

"I'm not even sure why we're comparing a current NHLer with past players/draft busts or career minor leaguers." - Yankees76
You brought it up, champ. We were talking about HC Davos and how most of there players who are ten times better than Tootoo don't even have a page.
Theres been so many news stories on how Tootoo is becoming one of the most wanted men in the NHL, and how people like LaRaque say he'll piss off the wrong person.
You guys aren't true hockey fans, at all.---burgz. 21:29, 21 March 2007 (UTC)
