Vanes "The Nightmare" Martirosyan born in Abovyan, Armenia is a US-American boxer of Armenian descent.
Amateur
He beat good friend Andre Berto in the North American qualification and went to the Olympics at welter. He defeated an Algerian but ran into two-time world champ Lorenzo Aragon Armenteros from Cuba and was eliminated.
Pro
At the age of 20, Vanes (pr. VAH-nes) he turned pro at 154 pounds with Top Rank (of Bob Arum) At the start of 2007 he is 12-0.
Vanes is co-managed by Shelly Finkel, who also manages or advises IBF super middleweight world champion Jeff Lacy, former world champions Manny Pacquiao and Fernando Vargas, and others. Vanes is trained by Freddie Roach, who was voted “2003 Trainer of the Year” by the Boxing Writers Association of America.
