Questions
- Of your contributions to Misplaced Pages, are there any about which you are particularly pleased, and why?
- I try not to take pride in any edit, this allows me to handle others changing them in a much easier way.
- Have you been in any conflicts over editing in the past or do you feel other users have caused you stress? How have you dealt with it and how will you deal with it in the future?
- Actually other editors don't cause me as much stress as the apparent failure of rules/guidelines in place do. I'm hoping for someone to take time and explain to me if i have been wrong in how I apply/perceive rules here in an ongoing disagreement with Justanother.
Below are a series of diffs giving an overall impression of the events I'm most curious about.
- Original disagreement over WP:BLP Here is a dispute of a similar nature with another editor for reference
- Still inviting Justanother to participate
- Discussion involving my POV on Scientology. Suggestion to Justanother about how to address some unnecessary disrespect the CoS gets. and More civil discussion.
- I'm still WP:AGF and trying to explain his possible error
- I theorize that right here he changed his opinion about me. I've read accounts about L. Ron Hubbard's naval career from both sides, pro and anti CoS. They are both wrong in several aspects and I am interested in getting the truth out there. The CoS holds a very high opinion of him, to say the least, and I thought I'd see what his opinion was. (There are some things that the anti-CoS elements don't give Lt. Hubbard credit for and also some flaws in their analysis. The opposite is true of the CoS sources I've seen as they give him too much credit many times..) I was not trying to bait him or attack his spiritual beliefs. From our earlier conversation we had established that we both agree that there are a lot of people out to "get" Scientology. I wanted to see if he felt that the Navy was reliable enough as a NPOV source.
- Justanother was never able to explain how Barbara Schwarz failed the notability test except to say he didn't think she was and later stating that the WP:RfDs were unfair.
- My first attempt to explain Justanother may be biased.
- Justanother had just set up a discussion for/against an AfD on the talk page of Barbara Schwarz. I notified another regular editor of this fact. (The same editor I cited as my second disagreement). Justanother accused me of WP:CANVASS for doing this. I found it strange because telling an editor who has been editing on the article in question does not seem to be what Canvassing is.
- First mention of RfC with Smee
- The entry on WP:BLPN which he argued so much about was achieved without action and he didn't seem to notice or care. It was at this point I started not to WP:AGF because that request was heavily commented on by him.
- Bishonen advised us that she didn't think a good enough effort was made at outside resolution. I disagreed and submitted the RfC on Justanother
- I have always welcomed an outside opinion explaining why I might be wrong
- Bishonen deleted the RfC after Justanother requested it and no uninvolved admins would do it, this is a discussion about why I feel that was wrong on her part
- I can tell repeating myself has taken it's toll on my patience
- This was never answered or explained to me and went into the achieves without action
- I still don't want to push him too hard at this point myself, but I started to notice his treatment of other editors and his loose ethics about guidelines, specifically WP:CANVAS.
The cycle goes on and on, all this time I've been trying to get him to agree to a community forum. He refuses to do that, or even acknowledge his bias. I mean no disrespect to the community, but I haven't gotten much help in trying to address this behavior. At this point I'm wondering if the system doesn't work, or if I've been screwing up. Thank you for your time. Anynobody 07:42, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- I don't see this as the intended use of the editor review process. It seems to me that you had a dispute with this user a month ago. He says that you don't edit in the same areas, so if you just dropped this, you might never encounter him again, as opposed to trying to push this through about five different processes. Am I missing something here? Newyorkbrad 14:37, 1 April 2007 (UTC)
