The history of ondeh-ondeh can be traced back to China during the Tang Dynasty, where this food became the official cake of the Xian region called Ludeui. This food was then brought by the immigrants to the southern part of China, then spread widely until the areas of east and southeast Asia.
- It is made from glutinous rice flour, melaka sugar (kabong sugar), natural coloring from pandan leaves, and grated coconut.
- After being made round, it is boiled until the "Buah Melaka" rises to the surface of the water and is ready to be served.
