Arbiter image

I love the images you added to the article about the Arbiter (Halo), but I'm not too sure if the artist has given permission for them to be used on Misplaced Pages. On her website, Tina Leyk explicitly says her images "may NOT be used on any other site or for any other purpose without the concent of the artist". She has allowed halo.bungie.org to use her images, so she may be open to allowing us to use them too. When you get an answer from her, update the tags on the images, or if you don't feel like sending her an email, let me know and I'll do it. - NormanEinstein 04:30, 12 Mar 2005 (UTC)

I've sent an email to the artist to see if she'll allow us to use her image of the Arbiter. That particular image does not qualify for fairuse, but you're right that the screenshot of the Arbiter's armour is fairuse. - NormanEinstein 17:23, 12 Mar 2005 (UTC)
Tina Leyk, the artist of the Arbiter image, returned my email and agreed to let us use that image under the GFDL. I've updated the image info and tags. - NormanEinstein 21:31, 12 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Fair use images vs. article text

I noticed that you created a couple of articles (Elizabeth Weir (Stargate) and John Sheppard (Stargate)) by pasting copyrighted text as "fair use". Unfortunately, that's not in line with Misplaced Pages policy. We do sometimes use fair use images, which is why there's template:fairuse, but that's specifically intended for images because often there are important images that are simply not possible to get otherwise. In the case of article text we can always write our own, so copyright violations aren't so flexibly tolerated there. I've already rewritten those two articles I noticed above so that they're entirely original, but I figured I should drop you a note about it for future reference. And thanks for all the other work you've done, I don't want to just focus on the negative. :) Bryan 18:34, 28 Mar 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright tags

Thanks for uploading Image:Covy-Jeep-Large.jpg. I notice it currently doesn't have an image copyright tag. Could you add one to let us know its copyright status? (You can use {{gfdl}} if you release it under the GFDL, or {{fairuse}} if you claim fair use, etc.) If you don't know what any of this means, just let me know where you got the images and I'll tag them for you. Thanks so much, Tagishsimon (talk) 18:33, 30 Mar 2005 (UTC)
