– I don't think this particular song is what most people of when they hear "fortunate". Most likely they are looking for the general concept of being fortunate. We already have a dab for this word, so - even though this article gets most of the pageviews! - I think it would be better to move the dab to the base title. Duckmather (talk) 02:50, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

  • As there's no mention of the matter of how precise the title is at either this Talk page or the article history, we can assume this just happened organically (cf. WP:RMUM) and move it away to see what the actual reader interest might be (Support). Please feel free to try the expedited process at WP:RM/TR for similar cases in the future. --Joy (talk) 08:20, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
  • Oppose Per WP:NOTDICT. We don't move pages simply because they correspond to dictionary words. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 10:25, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
@Zxcvbnm we also don't keep them simply because they do. How do we compare the long-term significance of the song with that of the ships and people? --Joy (talk) 16:42, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
The people are a WP:PTM, as none of them are referred to simply as "Fortunate", while the ship is certainly not the primary topic. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ () 17:16, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
People are not just partial title matches, there is both an inherent ambiguity between people named some way and the name itself, and we also know for a fact that there is a contingent of readers that navigates to biographies after looking up people's names beyond mononymous usage, please see Misplaced Pages talk:Disambiguation/Archive 56#on the quality of clickstream and pageviews usage data.
With regard to the latter part, the contention isn't that any of the ships is the primary topic, rather the question is WP:D#Is there a primary topic?, and the usage and long-term significance of all these topics, including the ships, needs to be analyzed somehow (beyond assertions one way or another).
I'm not sure I see how we could have much certainty in comparing the significance of a pop culture item for which we have no information past 1999 and the ships for which we likewise don't have much information. One of the ships was in the news, but not under this name. The song's author was since in the news a lot, but not because of the song.
Why would we assume the average English reader expects to see the song when they look up "fortunate"? Note, not just the average R&B fan nor the average ship enthusiast nor the average biography reader. --Joy (talk) 22:00, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
  • Support. I can't determine a primary topic among those articles available. Shhhnotsoloud (talk) 09:19, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
  • Support per nom, with tweaks to the disambiguation page that I will make now. BD2412 T 13:39, 25 May 2024 (UTC)
