May 2024
We have now entered another period where the site is offline and there is currently no indication of what the problem is and when it might return. The error given is DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN which means that the URL does not resolve to an IP address. The infobox should not say "offline" for brief outages, but this looks to be ongoing. ♦IanMacM♦ 07:45, 5 May 2024 (UTC)
- The same error pops up to me, @Ianmacm, the text says "DNS_PROBE_FINISHED_NXDOMAIN", it can be that the domain, is down but, some "Sysops" said that the domain was seized for nonpayment or some user reporting the domain. Also, the forums were down with the same error. CiriloHQ (talk) 16:17, 11 May 2024 (UTC)
- The domain may have been suspended/blocked by the registrar on 3 May 2024, see this WHOIS screenshot. Anyway, the .online domain is out of action and we don't know why. ED .online hasn't said anything publicly about this. They used to have a Twitter/X account but it was also suspended.--♦IanMacM♦ 09:40, 13 May 2024 (UTC)
- Their subreddit is banned too, and I believe their discord server is gone as well. All that's left is a facebook group that hasn't been used since 2010 and a steam group that's very hard to find. According to said group a .top domain is on the way but the person is funding it via crowdfunding so it's likely to be a scam. 2601:155:300:910:A9A4:6C7C:C929:9526 (talk) 03:51, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- Encyclopediadramatica.top was registered on 12 May 2024 (screenshot) and the page currently says "It's happening". It looks like ED may be migrating (or planning to migrate) to the .top domain at the moment, 8chan also did this after being kicked off their previous domain.--♦IanMacM♦ 08:42, 17 May 2024 (UTC)
- Yeah but given the layout and the type of site ED was there's still a nonzero chance this is a scam. 2601:155:300:910:617C:C42A:6426:A212 (talk) 15:30, 17 May 2024 (UTC)

- @Ianmacm: I'm a little lost - do you know what precisely the legal situation is that editors have been referring to and how it applies to the change of domains (and, by the sound of it, ownership)? BOTTO (T•C) 16:33, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- I have no insider knowledge of what happens over at ED. FWIW, the current "Did you know?" section on the main page says "encyclopediadramatica.online died because the previous owner hid like a ***** and let it die." That's as much as I know, but clearly they had to change domains.--♦IanMacM♦ 16:52, 23 May 2024 (UTC)

Yes, the .top version is now offline so it didn't last very long. It is unclear why this has happened and the site faces another period of uncertainty. ♦IanMacM♦ 07:29, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
- It's back, and according to the Dramatica forum, "Namecheap suspended the domain." So off we go with a new domain, with .top holding the record for the shortest tenure at less than a month.--♦IanMacM♦ 18:02, 9 June 2024 (UTC)
