Rest in peace
- RIP – DreamRimmer (talk) 08:04, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- Requiescat in pace. Lectonar (talk) 09:00, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- You were one of the first administrators whose work I admired, all the way back in 2008 when I first started editing seriously. Fare thee well. Dylan620 (he/him • talk • edits) 10:11, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- Us Wikipedians will miss you. We hope that someone who is your successor does just as good a job as you did with the bot. NoobThreePointOh (talk) 12:07, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- RIP – robertsky (talk) 13:35, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- My condolences to your family; we'll miss you. <3 Legoktm (talk) 13:54, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- Oh this is sad. Although low-intensity, James has been a consistent presence on Misplaced Pages for a very long time. HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 15:22, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- Very sad, indeed. When you turned in your mop, James, you said you had hoped to be back but unfortunately life took another turn. You will be missed. Liz 18:13, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- I hope you rest in peace James, my condolences to your family. —usernamekiran (talk) 22:46, 18 July 2024 (UTC)
- RIP, I didn't know him personally, but his AdminStatsBot was invaluable for my work on the former administrators page and of course HBC AIV helperbot5's worth is incalculable. I think it's remarkable that he kept his bots running for sixteen years, through all the software/hardware changes that happened during that time, including the changeover from the Toolserver. Graham87 (talk) 03:52, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- May you rest in peace James, My sincere condolences to friends and family. –Davey2010 20:38, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- My sincere condolences to all friends and family of James. starship.paint (RUN) 12:11, 20 July 2024 (UTC)
- Sad news. I didn't see James around too, too often, but he was one of the most amicable people I've had the pleasure of interacting with on Misplaced Pages. He'll be missed. Kurtis 05:38, 24 July 2024 (UTC)
Misplaced Pages Obituary
I've written a quik first draft of an obituary at the deceased Wikipedians page at Misplaced Pages:Deceased Wikipedians/2024#JamesR. Feel free to edit/add to it. Graham87 (talk) 03:52, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you! Do you think we could hide some of the archive box? --Gerda Arendt (talk) 07:26, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- @Gerda Arendt: It took quite a lot of fiddling to figure out how to do it ... but I've managed it! I also disabled archiving while I was here because it's not needed now. Graham87 (talk) 09:07, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thank you for the fiddling! --Gerda Arendt (talk) 09:20, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
- No worries! I also took the liberty of linking earlier archives. Graham87 (talk) 09:29, 19 July 2024 (UTC)
