Dave Douglas is the drummer for the Christian rock band Relient K. Douglas joined the band after their former drummer, Stephen Cushman, departed in late 2000. Douglas has been playing the drums and doing background vocals for the band for just over six years. His style often focuses on heavy snare hits on the beat and complex kick patterns.
He sings a few solos for the band, and he has also started a side solo music project called Agnes. He performs for this project entirely by himself, singing lead vocals and playing drums, guitar, and bass. He has said that his dad taught him how to play all three instruments.
Back when he joined Relient K, Douglas was also filling in as a guitarist for Ace Troubleshooter, whose frontman was future Relient K bassist John Warne. In summer 2006, Douglas announced another side project of his. This second side project is called Gypsy Parade, and he performs for this project with his wife. He is currently writing more songs for both of his side projects. Douglas currently lives in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife, Rachel.
Gear
Douglas is an official endorser of Meinl cymbals, Battlefield drums, and Vic Firth drumsticks.
In the "Be My Escape" music video, he used a late-1980's Yamaha Recording Custom drum kit in the Basement scene, but a DW kit at the end. In the "Who I Am Hates Who I've Been" video, he used a DW kit with Zildjian cymbals.

Douglas also has a solo side project, Agnes. His first three songs debuted on Mono Vs Stereo's My Other Band, Vol. 1, which was released in June 2006. The CD was a compilation for members of Christian rock bands to get out side projects of theirs to the public.
Douglas is currently in the process of writing more songs for this side project. Douglas performs for the project entirely on his own, playing guitar, bass, and drums. He does all of the vocals for the project as well. He has said that his father taught him the basics on all of these instruments. Douglas' bandmate in Relient K, John Warne is considering doing a side project for a possible My Other Band, Vol. 2.
History
Dave Douglas started Agnes in late 2005, after tossing the idea around in his head for a few years. The side project was announced on MySpace by his Relient K bandmate Jonathan Schneck, around May 2006.
Douglas explained the name as being the name of a character in a book that he enjoyed - David Copperfield (novel) by Charles Dickens. Agnes is not his only side project. He also has a project titled Gypsy Parade, a softer project that he and his wife created.
