Denise Radon Masters Jones (born March 22, 1969) is one-fourth of the Contemporary Christian Music group Point of Grace. She has won 7 Dove Awards with Point of Grace.
Background
Jones was born and raised in a Christian home. At age 6 she realized that because she was a sinner, she needed a Saviour. After she spoke with her parents about it, her father took her to meet her pastor, and it was there that she asked Christ into her life. Jones was born into a very musical family, and it seemed everyone in her family sang or played an instrument, and music was a big part of family life. Jones was also an avid sports fan, participating in softball and basketball intramurals at her high school in Norman, OK. She almost went to Oklahoma University, but at the last minute decided to attend Ouachita Baptist University to major in music education. At OBU she joined the Ouachitones, a 14 girl singing group, along with Norman natives Terry Lang and Heather Floyd. They had a trio within the group, and one night, they realized they had something special when they sang together, and decided to spend the following summer traveling around the country singing at any church willing to listen. Once plans were made, Denise rushed back to her dorm room and told roommate Shelley Phillips about the trio's plans for the summer. Shelley suggested the trio became a quartet and Say So was born. They continued touring through 1992, when they signed with Word Records.
Point Of Grace
Jones has achieved much success with Point of Grace, with 7 Dove Awards, 12 Dove nominations, 2 Grammy nominations, 4 Gold Albums, 2 Platinum albums and 27 #1 singles, as well as national media exposure in television including The View, "Entertainment Tonight", "Donny & Marie", "CNN Worldbeat", "Live! With Regis and Kathie Lee" and "CBS This Morning". Jones has written 7 books as a member of Point of Grace and has also joined her fellow group mates appearing in Women of Faith conferences. In 2002, the group developed the Girls of Grace conferences. Aimed at teenage girls, the two-day event's sole purpose is to encourage the girls in their walks with God, in every aspect of their lives.
Personal Life
Jones married her husband, Stu, on September 19, 1992. They have two boys, Spencer Donald (Spence), born October 12, 1997, and Benjamin Price (Price), born May 27, 2000. They reside in Franklin, TN.
Other Activities
Jones, along with Heather Payne, Shelley Breen, Terry Jones and Leigh Cappillino have proudly supported Mercy Ministries of America, a non-profit organization for women who face life-controlling issues such as self-mutilation, sexual abuse, and unplanned pregancies.
