The X Prize is a series of monetary prizes for science and technology proposed by Dr. Peter Diamandis, the first of which, the Ansari X Prize, was a ten million dollar prize for a private spacecraft capable of reaching the edge of space.

The term X PRIZE may refer to any of the prizes:

  • The Archon X Prize, genomics competition to create a device to sequence 100 human genomes within 10 days or less
  • The Automotive X Prize, engineering competition to create a fuel efficient clean car
  • The Wirefly X Prize Cup, rocketry competition to create improved rockets
  • The WTN X Prize, a new set of X Prizes inspired by the Ansari X Prize but potentially covering all areas of science and technology
  • The X Prize Foundation
