Recent edits to SIM (film)

Hello, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. Your recent edit to SIM (film) appears to have added the name of a non-notable entity. In general, a person or organization added to a list should have a pre-existing article to establish notability. If you wish to create such an article, please confirm that your subject is notable according to Misplaced Pages's notability guideline. Thank you! bender235 (talk) 11:59, 31 May 2013 (UTC)

Is Aarambam the official title of the film? I can't find any source as yet. Kailash29792 (talk) 14:00, 24 July 2013 (UTC)

Thuppakki

I think there is some mess in the overseas box office section of Thuppakki. Can you please find it and fix? If yes, unsourced claims must be removed. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:05, 14 August 2013 (UTC)

Vadacurry

The piping was used to make the credits appear as it appears in the poster.

And when you cite reference, may I suggest you to provide titles and publishers etc? Coz The Times of India and The New Indian Express are not not just another entertainment portals. Its more than just that and I believe it adds weight-age to the reliability of the source.

Thank You. -- Sriram Vikram (talk) 12:08, 25 August 2013 (UTC)

You are mistaken in your edit summary: "you can't remove a reliable source! I have rewritten it and this is fair now" This isn't about reliable sources. You didn't rewrite it. It still is verbatim "...he decided to produce, direct and act in Sevagan, which went on to become a box office success..."

Now, please leave it out or rewrite it so it's completely different. Not close paraphrased, but completely different. I really don't think you understand yet that copyright violations are not allowed. Anna Frodesiak (talk) 00:17, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

Stop icon

Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection. -- Aunva6 20:27, 29 September 2013 (UTC)

Regarding Nazriya Nazim Edit summary

Regarding your edit summary of the article "the sources are below in the main sections. that is just the introduction text and a summary of the article and does not need to be sourced!".

According to my knowledge the lead must conform to verifiability and other policies. Even though the presence of citations in the introduction is neither required in every article nor prohibited in any article but some material, including direct quotations and contentious material about living persons, must be provided with an inline citation every time it is mentioned, regardless of the level of generality or the location of the statement. Source :Misplaced Pages:Manual of Style/Lead section

But I have never read a Misplaced Pages Policy or a manual with quote "the introduction text and a summary of the article and does not need to be sourced!" . Please reply if there is one. KAS 03:11, 9 October 2013 (UTC)

VDS

Haha, obviously. But, it will be better to add a upcoming film with a source. Or else some other editors who are not familiar with Tamil film industry might challenge to do so. Sorry if i interuppted you! --    L o g  X   21:19, 28 October 2013 (UTC)

(Dis)Encouragement of trivia

converting the column from something specific and non trivial "Awards" to the non-specific "Notes" give the impression that anyone should add any random trivial comments that they want.

A project that has not completed is not yet a "Film" to include in the "Filmography" - which is the list of films , not "works in progress that may or may not end up being completed as films". The not-yet-complete status requires context and is therefore better and appropriately covered as text in the body of the article. Duplicating coverage of something that is not (and may not ever be) done is giving it too much weight. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 13:11, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

I suggest you actually read the policy.
  • WP:BALASPS "An article should not give undue weight to any aspects of the subject but should strive to treat each aspect with a weight appropriate to its significance to the subject. For example, discussion of isolated events, criticisms, or news reports about a subject may be verifiable and impartial, but still disproportionate to their overall significance to the article topic. This is a concern especially in relation to recent events that may be in the news. Note that undue weight can be given in several ways, including, but not limited to, depth of detail, quantity of text, prominence of placement, and juxtaposition of statements." The coverage of a not yet completed film should NOT be given the same weight as an actually completed project.
  • Misplaced Pages:Manual of Style/Tables Tables "can be useful for a variety of content presentations on Misplaced Pages, though should be used only when appropriate; sometimes the information in a table may be better presented as prose paragraphs"
What policies are you basing your position on? -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 13:43, 6 November 2013 (UTC)
  • WP:FILMOGRAPHY "The notes field should not be allowed to get overly cluttered." "Notes: This field is to include optional, additional information such as medium, episode titles, or awards--when there is no separate "Awards" section in the given article." - no where in the guidance does it say Notes should be used for upcoming not completed projects. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 13:48, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

explicit prohibition of upcoming not completed films is not needed. the guidelines do not explicitly prohibit including ticket prices and theater showtimes, but they are not allowed either. I have provided half a dozen policies and guidelines that each individually and particularly collectively together show that it should not be included. You have not provided anything from policy or guidelines to support your position at all.

Note that further conversation should take place on the article talk page in the discussion I have begun there. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 14:27, 6 November 2013 (UTC)

what has the ticket price got to do with the actor? Lol. No, an explicit prohibition is needed, else I will add it, simply because it has been the norm. You have provided a whole lot of stuff that has become totally irrelevant, after I showed you WP:FILMOGRAPHY. I have provided what I needed to provide, now it's your turn. I'm waiting. Uravugal thodarkathai

Hi brother. Even-though it is a dubbed version, the name of the characters and the channel which telecasts changes. And, to add some strength to my opinion, I have added many more things about the show in this article, which has not been described in the original version of the page. WP:MOS/TABLE

The overall style guideline for tables " can be useful for a variety of content presentations on Misplaced Pages, though should be used only when appropriate; sometimes the information in a table may be better presented as prose paragraphs or as an embedded list." ... "If a list is simple, it is generally better to use one of the standard Misplaced Pages list formats instead of a table. Lists are easier to maintain than tables, and are often easier to read."

"Some filmographies are presented in a tabled format; however, you should make sure there is an obvious benefit to table format before creating a table for a filmography. Adding a table so that there can be "notes" column that pulls in trivial crap like "child artiste" is just WP:BEANS and instead of being an obvious benefit is an obvious detriment. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 17:48, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

There is nothing to sort! -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 17:56, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

Please

I know the Red Pen of Doom is acting a bit crazy of late bcos he wants every article to exactly follow MOS, and may even remove important sections in the process. But I request u not to badmouth him bcos he may retaliate violently, and that may lead to either of u getting blocked. Instead u can report him to any admin. Since u r one of the few most active users editing articles on Kollywood, I would not like to see u getting blocked for a silly reason. ---- Kailash29792 (talk) 18:54, 14 December 2013 (UTC)

You know me

Hai. you are the one who edited Uravugal thodarkathai recently and forwarded the page to yeh rishta kya kehlata hai. Since the person whom you are talking about above disturbs me alot in updating the page, I need to complaint about him to someone. Those things which I add in that page, were deleted for no reason. I undid his version and so to show his power, that guy blocked me for 1 day. What can I do to stop that empty headed guy? He doesn't even know a single word about that show but he knows to edit the plot of it. If I don't have any chance to overrule that guy, I will end up from wikipedia by using the ugliest words on his talk page. waiting for your advice. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 117.221.232.138 (talk) 10:32, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi. He probably has no idea of the show, but the reason he has given was that the additions you made were unsourced. I see that it's mainly the "Awards and nominations" sections that you have worked on. I know you must have spent a lot of time on that and while it's unfortunate that it's being removed, I have to say, that it doesn't have a single source. If you can add some references, reliable sources, then nobody can remove it. I will try to look into it too. But keep calm and be patient please. Don't do something silly and get blocked indefinitely. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 18:30, 17 December 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Poovarasam Peepee

Hello, Veera Dheera Sooran. I wanted to let you know that I’m proposing an article that you started, Poovarasam Peepee, for deletion because I don't think it meets our criteria for inclusion. If you don't want the article deleted:

  3. save the page

Also, be sure to explain why you think the article should be kept in your edit summary or on the article's talk page. If you don't do so, it may be deleted later anyway.

You can leave a note on my talk page if you have questions. Prof. Mc (talk) 13:10, 9 May 2014 (UTC)

Please stop reinserting content without providing inline citations to reliably published sources that verify the claims made as you are required to by policy. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 17:56, 25 September 2014 (UTC)

I removed content for which you had not provided an inline citation to a reliably published source which verified the claim made in the article. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 19:47, 25 September 2014 (UTC)
Your edit for example reintroduces the POV commentary. It reenters multiple awards for which there is no inline citation, it reintroduces multiple awards for which you have sources that dont meet our reliably published source standards and it reintroduces claims about the status of upcoming film projects where the source only states that an upcoming film project has been announced. Revert your edit now.
In addition your claim of ", DON'T you undo my edits with one click!!!" is incorrect, there were multiple removals done with careful edit summaries explaining why.
Revert yourself or provide the necessary sources. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 19:55, 25 September 2014 (UTC)

September 2014

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Nayantara. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware that Misplaced Pages's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Amortias (T)(C) 19:32, 25 September 2014 (UTC)

Do you want to reply to WP:AN3#User:Veera Dheera Sooran and User:TheRedPenOfDoom reported by User:Amortias (Result: )? It is a claim of edit warring at Nayantara. Thanks, EdJohnston (talk) 18:19, 26 September 2014 (UTC)

Thanks

Ok, bro and thanks . BTW most of them are IP editors who write unwanted things, therefore are not valid. So, their edits are reverted. (Ssven2 - talk)

Sanjjanaa

I'm not going to protect that page right now. However, unless a more reliable source can be found her birthday should be left out. Pleas discuss this at Talk:Sanjjanaa#DOB. There are problems with Twitter as a source. The account does not have the blue checkmark that is associated with a verified account. Compare that with Stephen Fry. It could be Sanjjanaa or it could be someone posing as her. Thanks. CambridgeBayWeather, Uqaqtuq (talk), Sunasuttuq 09:35, 12 December 2014 (UTC)

it is actually her but you're probably right, then we should remove it altogether. On the other hand, this User:Truesideofyou has been adding/changing the date of birth on several pages without adding any reference or adding very poor sources. Just wanted to bring it your knowledge. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 15:29, 15 December 2014 (UTC)

Talkpage

I think its high time you start clearing your talkpage of finished discussions, maybe you could even archive them. And did you know that newcomer Ssven (actually, he's only been here since the last year) has already made quite a few GA's over here? Not bad for a newcomer. Kailash29792 (talk) 15:38, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

Yeah, I should but too lazy to do that. Mostly I have these Disambiguation link notifications on my page, I will clean them up some day. And that's great. He learns fast, I was expecting him to make some good contributions. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 15:48, 18 December 2014 (UTC)
Thanks for that, bro. I have nominated Imsai Arasan 23am Pulikesi and Puthiya Paravai for GA. Moondram Pirai is due to be copyedited at the GOCE requests page, and I am currently expanding Padayappa. Ssven2 15:56, 18 December 2014 (UTC)

Spread the love by adding {{subst:Seasonal Greetings}} to user talk pages with a friendly message.

Thank you for the wishes and congratulations on your successive GA successes, way to go! Btw, regarding VIP, I came across this article, which explicitly states the budget and gross figures of the film. It may be a better source than the one currently in VIP's page. Have a look at it and decide yourself! Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 15:37, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

Puthiya Paravai

My nomination of the film for GA has passed. This is the fifth Sivaji Ganesan film to get GA status! Ssven2 04:21, 22 December 2014 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for March 31

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Misplaced Pages appreciates your help. Great news! Enthiran is promoted! My first FA success! Hooray! Ssven2 13:38, 24 April 2015 (UTC)

Some facts

Although Jai's role in Raja Rani was indeed a supporting one, he yet got the second billing in the credits. And we list according to the credits. We should also refrain from adding rumours here as per WP:RUMOUR. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:08, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

Wow, is it? Didn't know that. I usually check the credits first before I make changes, didn't check this one though. Very silly this is. And where did I add rumours?? I am, in fact, removing all rumours added by fanboys. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 12:50, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
Yennai Arindhaal still has many rumours which need deleting. And I don't think Amy Jackson was ever considered for it. The source mentions only Trisha. Kailash29792 (talk) 13:05, 14 May 2015 (UTC)
Oh oops. I was just undoing the edit by a fanboy, didn't check the source. I can't go through the whole article and all links and check whether everything is true. I reverted back to the last good version, so I assumed it would be true. Sorry about that. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 13:29, 14 May 2015 (UTC)

16 Vayathinile

16 Vayathinile, which you had expanded once upon a time, has now passed its GA review. I thank you for those edits. Kailash29792 (talk) 12:07, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Oh wow, went through the article, it's superbly written. I don't think I have contributed much to it, it's now a totally different (and far far better) article. Congrats to you and the main contributor, excellent job! Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 13:01, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

Pathala Bhairavi

Pathala Bhairavi turns a GA! Excluding Kalidas (1931), Pathala Bhairavi is the second non-21st century Telugu film to become a GA after Mayabazar, both being my GAs. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 15:18, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

Missamma

Hi. I'm here with a small request. That is, can you please translate the Tamil language references available here and add them at the article, which i am trying to take it to GA status? Please help me. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 06:29, 9 June 2015 (UTC)

Oh hey, sorry for the late response, I was absent for a week. I don't know if you still require my help. I glanced through the articles, they are quite long and I'm not sure whether I can spend enough time to fully translate them. If nobody else is willing to translate the texts I can do that but you would have to wait for some time. In any case, all the best! Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 16:11, 15 June 2015 (UTC)
Done with it, bro! All the article requires now is a thorough copy-edit for grammar, style, cohesion, tone and/or spelling. Currently the gates for GOCE are closed and i placed the c/e tag on the top upon Baffle gab1978's suggestion. Can you c/e the article? Pavanjandhyala (talk) 16:47, 16 June 2015 (UTC)
Okay, I will have a look at it. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 14:18, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Alright, have done some editing. I have not seen the film and I felt the plot was hard to comprehend. Some context is missing and some clairification is needed. I have made some notes and hidden the text, so please have a look. I tried my best but I think it would be good if other editors could also go through the article and help improve it. Again all the best! Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 17:23, 17 June 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the c/e. I've resolved those hidden comments just now. Now i believe the plot is better and clean. And, surely i shall ask another editors to give a c/e upon your suggestion. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 05:45, 18 June 2015 (UTC)

September 2015

Information icon Hello, and welcome to Misplaced Pages. You appear to be engaged in an edit war with one or more editors according to your reverts at Parvathy Nair. Although repeatedly reverting or undoing another editor's contributions may seem necessary to protect your preferred version of a page, on Misplaced Pages this is usually seen as obstructing the normal editing process, and often creates animosity between editors. Instead of edit warring, please discuss the situation with the editor(s) involved and try to reach a consensus on the talk page.

If editors continue to revert to their preferred version they are likely to lose editing privileges. This isn't done to punish an editor, but to prevent the disruption caused by edit warring. In particular, editors should be aware of the three-revert rule, which says that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Edit warring on Misplaced Pages is not acceptable in any amount, and violating the three-revert rule is very likely to lead to a loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Fortuna 13:40, 4 September 2015 (UTC)

Information icon Constructive contributions to Misplaced Pages are appreciated, but a recent edit that you made has been reverted or removed because it was a misuse of a warning or blocking template. Please use the user warnings sandbox for any tests you may want to do, or take a look at our introduction page to learn more about contributing to the encyclopedia. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. --Calicutspecialist (talk) 01:32, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

Critical reception of Paayum Puli (2015 film)

Hi bro! I've been working on Paayum Puli (2015 film) in the recent past and i think, the critical recpetion section has enough content. However, i am unsure of my work's accuracy. Hence, i request you to take a glance at it and copy-edit the section. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 09:20, 5 September 2015 (UTC)

I saw the article and as I said before, it looks really good to me. I've just rearranged the critical reception section, moving the more positive to the top and the more negative ones to the end, but it's difficult since almost all reviews are very mixed. Overall, the article looks very fine, in my opinion :) Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 15:56, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
Thanks a lot bro! I may take it to GA status in the future, that's why i developed it now to such extent (to avoid loss of potential info which usually die). I imagined it to be definitely better than Pandiya Naadu and just like any other Vishal and Suseenthiran's film in the near past, the female lead role is horribly written. Period! Pavanjandhyala (talk) 16:00, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
So is this Pavan's first attempt at making a non-Telugu film a GA? Then good luck with it! Veera, I think even you have the potential to make a GA some day. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:05, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
This can't be confirmed as my first non-Telugu GA attempt Kailash. If this film is as bad as the reviewers claim, i shall execute plan-B. Pavanjandhyala (talk) 16:14, 9 September 2015 (UTC)
Kailash, you want to know a secret? In the past (under a different name) I have taken some articles to GA status (in collaboration with other editors). I find the whole process too strenuous so I don't do that anymore. I'm perfectly happy with cleaning up, copy-editing and expanding here and there. Maybe some day I will do that again. Maybe... :) Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 16:30, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Please don't tell me you follow sockpuppetry. But new accounts created due to loss of passwords may be acceptable. Kailash29792 (talk) 16:35, 9 September 2015 (UTC)

Oh god, no! I didn't log in for a long time and had forgotten the password. I never wanted to create a new account actually but once you edited here it's hard to not come back. Veera Dheera Sooran (talk) 15:36, 10 September 2015 (UTC)
@Pavanjandhyala and Kailash29792: Happened to notice Pavan mentioning " I imagined it to be definitely better than Pandiya Naadu and just like any other Vishal and Suseenthiran's film in the near past, the female lead role is horribly written. Period!" I would personally say that the female lead role might have been written like that due to the ability of the actress to perform. Kajal is alright but still needs to work on her language. Knowledge of the language makes it easier for the director to give a meaty role to the actress. Pity that we hardly get a proper-Tamil speaking heroine in the industry among the current bunch as that creates a setback in the film's story/script. Its time filmmakers looked past glamour in case of actresses and focused more on their performance and dubbing. Take Sruthi Haasan for example. A half-Tamil (Sarika's from Delhi), her dubbing in Poojai (snippets from Adithya Channel) was horrible to say the least and lead me to think that she was better in 7aum Arivu. Why did they choose her for Best Actress at Filmfare when Samantha was better in Manam? Samantha has some potential (only some) but she needs to be more versatile than just submit herself to "Girl-next-door" roles. Hansika tries hard but still her voice would never suit her acting (see Puli's audio launch for further details). So its only right that her voice is dubbed. Its about time Nayanthara dubbed in her own voice for her roles. Trisha's trying something new with Nayagi. Glad to see Jo back. Looking forward to seeing her in more films in the future. Ssven2 05:21, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
The main reason why I think Tamil producers typically choose non-Tamil actresses (mostly those from Bombay) for their films is because of their glamour quotient, that could be a salvaging moment. Kailash29792 (talk) 05:40, 11 September 2015 (UTC)
@Kailash29792: Right you are, Kailash. BTW, on Lakshmi Menon, she's more of what one would call a "Good luck charm" instead of an actress as all the films that she featured in so far were successful. She needs to choose roles which offer her more scope (which she most probably would do after her education). As I said, its time filmmakers looked past glamour in case of actresses and focused more on their performance and dubbing (especially the latter!). — Ssven2 05:44, 11 September 2015 (UTC)

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Avantika Mohan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Misplaced Pages.
