Post-expand include size limit reached
This article is now so large that it is breaking the post-expand include size limit and will no longer display all content. It needs to be split in the same manner as List of Casualty episodes in order to fix this. --AussieLegend (✉) 03:25, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- @AussieLegend: I'd already substituted some of the templates used since it broke the limit in January. I think the primary issue might be that the way that the content is transcluded is too inefficient. Many lists have more items than this one. Jc86035 (talk) 03:45, 24 April 2018 (UTC)
- There are definitely issues in several of the season articles that are contributing to the problem. Other programs had more than 20 seasons before they got to this point. --AussieLegend (✉) 03:49, 24 April 2018 (UTC)

Only certain episodes have their own articles
Out of curiosity, is there any particular reason why only a few, rather random episodes have their own articles? I can understand the first episode having its own, as well as TV specials. Tinton5 (talk) 02:19, 11 July 2019 (UTC)

Season 1-2 airdate disputes.
Following intense research, new information has turned up indicating that many of the circulating premiere dates for Seasons 1 and 2 are incorrect. This discussion thread details many of my discoveries. I won't reproduce the entire text here, but to summarize, I've acquired copies of the original airings of several of these episodes which support the air dates that people have been pushing on the SpongeBob articles for the last month. The premieres are further suggested by the shape of Nick's logo in the right hand corner (eg, the logo in the Your Shoe's Untied image was first used in February 2001). Additionally, forum posts from the suggested premiere dates indicate their broadcast as new episodes.
For these reasons, I strongly believe that this information should not be discarded and should be taken with great consideration.
CDCB123 (talk) 20:49, 30 March 2020 (UTC)
- As explained by Magitroopa in an edit summary, "Sources including Nickandmore and any fan-run sites are WP:NOTRS". This means that they can't be a reference for anything, including to support date changes. To justify any changes you need citations from reliable secondary sources. Looking at the thread you linked to, which appears to have been started by you, you've resorted to original research which is not permitted. --AussieLegend (✉) 00:14, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- As I stated on my talk page, I have recordings of some of the original broadcasts which very clearly indicate when they were recorded. While I understand Misplaced Pages's policy on original research, I think everybody can agree that recordings of the actual broadcasts speak for themselves. If there is a way to provide proof of their legitimacy while respecting the copyright laws, I will gladly do so.
- I'm not sure how original recordings can confirm dates but it's really of no matter. This is still original research. --AussieLegend (✉) 01:28, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- Original recordings can have commercials. As it stands, the premiere recording I have of "Your Shoe's Untied / Squid's Day Off" has a commercial advertising that the 100 Deeds for Eddie McDowd episode "A Star is Born" is up next, and it advertises it as a new episode. The episode premiered on February 17, 2001. The original broadcast is a reliable source.CDCB123 (talk) 01:40, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- The original broadcast is a primary source. Recordings fail WP:V because it's not possible for other editors to verify the claim you are making. In short, there is no way that the recordings can be used as a source. --AussieLegend (✉) 01:47, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- If we accept that the Eddie McDowd episode premiered on February 17, 2001, then surely the recording advertising it as a premiere that is "up next" would be from that date, right? It is only logical to conclude that a SpongeBob airing promoted as a premiere from that same recording is in fact, also the premiere. The fact that the premiere promotions, and these commercials, and promotions for President's Day all exist on the same recording once again indicate a February 17, 2001 premiere date. One cannot exist without the other.

- I will happily provide video footage of all the commercials from the recording and footage of the "NEW!" promotional bugs so that others may verify my claim. It may not be the entire recording, but it should be enough proof all the same. CDCB123 (talk) 02:02, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

- That's the very definition of original research!I will happily provide video footage of all the commercials from the recording and footage of the "NEW!" promotional bugs so that others may verify my claim.
- You'd need the entire recording in a public place permanently and that would be a copyright problem.- Quite simply the recordings are unnaceptable sources no matter what you offer. --AussieLegend (✉) 05:58, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- I'm just using the resources I have and drawing logical conclusions that anybody in possession of said resources would also reach.

- Since uploading the entire video somewhere is out of the question, how's about I screen record myself going through the file instead? I can fast forward through the video I have and only play relevant parts (the place with the "NEW!" bug, the commercials, etc.). That way, I can prove that everything is a part of the same recording, and therefore also prove that it was recorded on the date that I claim. I don't think there should be any room for doubt that way. CDCB123 (talk) 08:55, 31 March 2020 (UTC)
- That's still original research. You CANNOT use home recordings. There's no way around that. Please read WP:OR, particularly WP:SYNTH. --AussieLegend (✉) 09:18, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

- Frankly, I see no problem using them as a means to support new discoveries or debunk previous misconceptions. But since we're obviously both very confident in what we believe, I'd like to ask then how I may go about proving the legitimacy of my claims if a live recording of the actual premiere is truly unacceptable. Should I find a news article promoting these premieres? Should I obtain Nickelodeon's own documentation of what aired each day? Do I need Nickelodeon themselves to say I'm correct? I'm extremely dedicated and passionate about my archival work, so whatever route is necessary to prove my claims, I'm happy to take it. CDCB123 (talk) 09:39, 31 March 2020 (UTC)

I just want to point out that the original air dates listed in both season 1 and season 2 tables are different from the one listed in the sources cited in their headers (namely the iTunes pages: Season 1, Season 2). Daud 10:03, 2 April 2020 (UTC)

Why don't we have pages for all episodes
This is for The Simpsons and Family Guy. Why not SpongeBob? It's as popular as those two. Abdulpreys (talk) 21:18, 6 January 2021 (UTC)
- Because most of them are not notable enough. If an article is created purely to 'have a page for it' and mainly is just a plot, then it definitely does not need to be here. See WP:PLOTONLY. There's also been previous deletion discussions regarding episode articles for different shows, I suggest to look into those discussions for more reasonings. I wouldn't be surprised if there's already-existing episode articles that are deleted at some point. Also see Misplaced Pages talk:WikiProject Television#Spongebob episode articles for a recent/ongoing discussion regarding this show in particular. Magitroopa (talk) 21:30, 6 January 2021 (UTC)

Why does season 12 say 31 episodes?
Unless the side specials count as episodes, this must be a mistake. And if it is, it needs to be fixed. LeotheBoy1110 (talk) 17:26, 3 May 2022 (UTC)
- That's exactly what it is. Per the hidden note on the S12 article, "This count includes episodes listed in the 'Specials' section in this article." However, recently, an IP has decided to no longer include the specials on the LoE (this) article. Magitroopa (talk) 18:26, 3 May 2022 (UTC)
- I'm not sure if they should still count because they're not actual episodes. LeotheBoy1110 (talk) 18:11, 10 May 2022 (UTC)
Possible new episode article
I created a new episode article for the season 13 episode "SpongeBob's Road to Christmas." Does anyone think it's a good article to be included with the list? Here it is. LeotheBoy1110 (talk) 22:57, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
- I've just converted it to a redirect- SpongeBob's Road to Christmas already exists as a redirect, so you shouldn't be attempting to bypass that with a differently titled article.
- Beyond that- 1.) Most of the article is just the plot/summary of the episode, going against WP:NOTPLOT 2.) The entire plot is purely a WP:COPYVIO/ copy-paste straight from this article on SpongeBob Fandom.
- So to shorten my response- simply, no. Magitroopa (talk) 23:09, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
- Well, if it was fixed up a bit, could that be a good sumition? Or is it not needed? LeotheBoy1110 (talk) 23:18, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
- The only reason I put "episode" in the title of the article was because I couldn't put just the name of the episode since a redirect already exists for it. I was just hoping somebody would fixed that if it was an exceptible page. Thanks for understanding. LeotheBoy1110 (talk) 23:49, 8 June 2022 (UTC)
Season 12 segment count error
I notice that the season 12 episode count was corrected, but it says 48 segments. However, I counted 49. This most be a mistake that needs to be corrected. LeotheBoy1110 (talk) 00:24, 11 August 2022 (UTC)
31 episodes in season 12
Like I said before, I don't think the side specials should count as episodes since they aren't really episodes. Shouldn't it be changed to 26 episodes instead of 31? That doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Is it suppose to be this way? If so, why? LeotheBoy1110 (talk) 18:39, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

There are only 26 episodes in Season 13
In several places in the wiki it indicates that there are 28 episodes (56 segments) in Season 13. There are only 26 episodes (52 segments).
https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0206512/episodes/?season=13 https://spongebob.fandom.com/Season_13 https://www.paramountplus.com/shows/spongebob-squarepants/episodes/
and yes, even this very wiki lists 26 episodes (but still claims there are 28 leading up to the list of 26). https://en.wikipedia.org/List_of_SpongeBob_SquarePants_episodes
