Sophisticated Boom Boom are a Scottish girl band, initially forming in XXXX and disbanding in XXXX. The five-piece were a mainstay in the 1980s Glasgow music scene. Recently, they have reformed and have been performing in various indie venues.

Their "tough girl pop sound" was reminiscent of the Undertones, the Bluebells and the Mo-dettes.

History

They performed regularly at the Hellfire Club in Glasgow, Scotland. John Peel championed them and invited them to perform at three John Peel sessions.

They produced one self-titled album in 1983.

Sophisticated Boom Boom were due to support Simple Minds at the Glasgow Barrowlands music venue in 1983 when vocalist Libby McArthur discovered she was pregnant.
