Chad Chronister (born February 2, 1964) is an American law enforcement officer and serves as the sheriff of Hillsborough County, Florida since 2017. He has been nominated for Administrator of the Drug Enforcement Administration by Donald Trump.

Early life and education

He graduated from Saint Leo University receiving his Bachelor's in criminal justice & Master's in criminology. Later, he graduated from the 260th session of the FBI National Academy.

Career

He has served sine 1992 in the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. He started as a patrol deputy and SWAT operator. He then served in several detective roles, including Environmental Enforcement, Warrants Unit, Narcotics, & Intelligence Section. He was a supervisor in the Warrants, Narcotics, Intelligence, & Dignitary Protection Detail. He then rose to Deputy Commander of Community Outreach Division, then Commander of Patrol District III, and Colonel of the Department of Operation Support.

Personal Life

Chronister married Nicole (Nikki) DeBartolo in 2010. She is the daughter of San Francisco 49ers former owner Edward J. DeBartolo Jr.. His son, George, was arrested in 2017 for stabbing another man in the face. He was sentenced to 22 months in prison and 3 years probation to follow his release. Later, Governor Ron DeSantis signed an executive order to terminate the probation starting April 7, 2022.

Professional affiliations

He is the co-chairman of the Regional Domestic Security Task Force for Region IV Tampa Bay; Vice-Chairman, Hillsborough County Public Safety Coordinating Council; Vice Chairman, & Hillsborough County Public Schools Oversight Committee.
