DYK for Wake Me Up When September Ends

On 30 September 2024, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Wake Me Up When September Ends, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that Green Day's "Wake Me Up When September Ends" became closely associated with the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Wake Me Up When September Ends. You are welcome to check how many pageviews the nominated article or articles got while on the front page (here's how, Wake Me Up When September Ends), and the hook may be added to the statistics page after its run on the Main Page has completed. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

I've left comments for the FAC linked above. SNUGGUMS (talk / edits) 03:44, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

I appreciate the comments you've left, and I'll attempt to implement them over the next few months. But I think what I want to do with the article based on the feedback so far will require some restructuring outside of the scope of an FAC, and therefore I've posted a request to withdraw the nomination. Thank you for taking the time to read the article. λ NegativeMP1 03:51, 3 October 2024 (UTC)

Disenchanted (My Chemical Romance song)

Hey there, I saw that you recently created a page for "Disenchanted", which is one of my favorite songs off the album! I'm not totally convinced of its notability though: when I proposed "Dead!", it seems like the consensus was that the article was kept because of both coverage in various listicle and certifications. However, while "Disenchanted" certainly has a few spots in rankings, it has no certification to speak of; and because the song isn't the primary subject of any of the article cited (nor that I could find), I don't know if it would survive the AfD process. I thought I'd just pass that information along, especially since I've become very, *very* disillusioned with the whole AfD process. Thanks for your work on the article regardless :) Leafy46 (talk) 21:14, 21 October 2024 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the compliments regarding the article itself, helps out a lot due to how I'm feeling about my current work right now. As for the notability concern, I definitely agree it has some flimsy coverage, but I think it technically meets the standards of what some modern song articles are built off of, and might even have a stronger case for a standalone article in comparison to "Dead!" (certification aside). I'm not trying to pull the "other stuff exists" card here, but in terms of available content about its role in the narrative of The Black Parade and its composition, I believe "Disenchanted" simply has more to work with. But if it does get sent to AfD or if someone (like you) chooses to merge it into the main Black Parade article, then I don't mind as long as the gist of the article content is properly summarized.
A bit off topic, but I highly dislike the main Black Parade article at present, because of how it fails to describe the contents of the album (including the songs, like "Disenchanted") properly, as well as the lack of a legacy section (to get an idea of an article that does do that, see Master of Puppets or Red). If someone later down the line (or even myself) chose to address that issue and let the article go into detail about what is in the album, then I would fully support a merge of "Cancer", "Dead", and "Disenchanted into the main article as I feel they could be easily summarized in a paragraph. But until then, I think that all three can stay separate. λ NegativeMP1 22:14, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
I'm with you. I don't think that the article for The Black Parade would really stand up to a GAR, but I'm not going to be the one to call it out. I do plan on going through the article's songs at some point, though, similar to your foray through American Idiot --- I already got "Mama" to GA and have "I Don't Love You" on my radar. Leafy46 (talk) 23:09, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
I've honestly kinda put the American Idiot project over to the side for now as I reassess how to handle song articles after Wake Me Up When September Ends' failed FAC; looking into the Black Parade - including making "Disenchanted" - is me working on stuff in the meantime. I wish you luck on IDLY. λ NegativeMP1 23:21, 21 October 2024 (UTC)
Update: I'm gonna give trying to work on the album article a go, and I'm starting to put the sources together. It might not end up being the best rewrite, since this is one of the most important albums of the 2000s and my experience writing on music is fairly limited, but I'm almost certain I can make it at least acceptable as most of the sources are already there. I invite you to help out if you would like to, especially with your work and research on "Mama". λ NegativeMP1 07:58, 25 October 2024 (UTC)
Sorry I missed this, I didn't get a notification about it. I see that you've put up "The Foundations of Decay" for GA, and I wish you the best on that project! Do let me know if you end up going through with saving the album page itself, and I'll help out where I can. Leafy46 (talk) 04:41, 28 November 2024 (UTC)
Thanks! I'll let you know when I start doing stuff for the album page itself, it'll probably during winter break or when I get some more life stuff under control. I'm also still trying to find decent sourcing regarding some of the songs in the album for when I do write the page (I'm not sure why I'm surprised there is practically zero high quality sourcing for songs like Blood or House of Wolves). λ NegativeMP1 06:09, 28 November 2024 (UTC)

Next year's competition will begin on 1 January. You are invited to sign up to participate; the WikiCup is open to all Wikipedians, both novices and experienced editors, and we hope to see you all in the 2025 competition. Raiden (Metal Gear Solid Character) Trivia

Is there a reason you undid the trivia about Raiden being mentioned in Metal Gear Solid (Game Boy Color game)/Metal Gear Solid: Ghost Babel? Not while appearing visually (directly, it's implied you're playing as him playing as Solid Snake in a simulation), he is mentioned (as "Jack") at the end of the game. While non-canon to the mainline series, other "non-canon" games are mentioned in the article as well, and it seems like we ought to include this piece of trivia as well 172.92.211.106 (talk) 16:33, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

Because it's irrelevant fan trivia that isn't included in any reliable sources. There's been discussions about it in the past. λ NegativeMP1 18:24, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
It's literally the ending text of the game, you can verify it by looking up the game. I linked that page since it seemed like a citation was needed, and it felt weird to link a longplay or something on Youtube 172.92.211.106 (talk) 19:29, 4 November 2024 (UTC)
I am really sorry for the trouble I caused today. I've been having a weird day and I think I was unfairly sorta taking out my frustrations on you. I know it won't undo the stress I caused, but I wanted to say sorry 172.92.211.106 (talk) 20:36, 4 November 2024 (UTC)

My modification reverted

Hello @NegativeMP1, you removed the image that I added, why? Does it correspond to the content of the article and the passage where it was placed?18:38, 8 November 2024 (UTC) SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 18:38, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

No it doesn't. There is no fair use rationale for why the FNAF movie article needs an image of Chica, and it seems that you only added the image to try and prevent the image from getting deleted for being unused non-free media. Non-free media being used for illustrative purposes only is not acceptable, it must make a strong case for it's inclusion in accordance with WP:NFCC. λ NegativeMP1 19:41, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
It seems that you tried to add the image to the series article. Once again, you need a proper rationale as to why the articles should have that image. Non-free images being used only in a decorative sense is not acceptable. You need to demonstrate how the image significantly improves reader understanding of the topics at hand, and sourcing that demonstrates why that aspect is important. λ NegativeMP1 19:45, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
@NegativeMP1 The purpose of the image is to show the different aspect of Chica between the game and the movie, plus it allows those who do not know the franchise to know which character we are talking about, it allows a visual identification, so I do not know if it is ok. I actually put the image in another article because I thought it had been placed in a bad context. SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 19:56, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
But there's no actual discussion about Chica in particular, or the differences between the animatronics and the games. And even then, that's a flawed reason as the image is only of Chica in the movie, when a comparison image would've typically had two combined images. Returning to the discussion on the characters but, I've done a lot of research on the FNAF series in terms of reliable sources, and I can safely say that Chica is practically irrelevant from a critic standpoint. λ NegativeMP1 20:02, 8 November 2024 (UTC)
Thank you for your reply @NegativeMP1, I apologize for my mistakes, in view of what you have just explained to me I will let you delete the image since it is ultimately of no interest. SparklingBlueMoon (talk) 20:06, 8 November 2024 (UTC)

Wake Me Up When September Ends

Where would it fit better then? An appearance on a "best of" list from a major publication such as Loudwire is not a "random ranking" in my opinion. Are the mentions of appearances on various lists to be removed from the Basket Case article as well? Lofi Gurl (talk) 00:26, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

Hi, I'd say that the ranking would be better fit in Reception where similar lists are. As for Holiday (or Basket Case, I guess), I'm gonna get around to cleaning up that article eventually but for now it's probably fine. λ NegativeMP1 00:36, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

Removal of maintenance tag

Hi. I'd suggest at least pinging me if the conversation has reached a conclusion that is satisfactory. As stated, because 5 editors say "Well I don't think it is" or make arguments similar to WP:OTHERSTUFF, it has not addressed my concerns with the list which is key in addressing the situation. At least ping me before removing a maintenance tag. Andrzejbanas (talk) 20:12, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

Those editors going against what your saying is still a consensus, though. And I figured that you seeing me removing it in your watchlist would've been enough, sorry. λ NegativeMP1 20:20, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
Takes a second to ask. The watchlist removal was a misclick. Andrzejbanas (talk) 21:38, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
