Basil Abdul Aziz (born 1984) is the current Minister of Economy and Resources in the Syrian Salvation Government.
Abdul Aziz holds a bachelor’s degree in energy engineering from the University of Aleppo, graduating in 2009. He has also completed advanced courses in economic feasibility studies, strategic planning, and human resource management. Before the Syrian Civil War, he worked as a lecturer at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Aleppo and in the engineering industries of Sheikh Najjar, an industrial area in Aleppo.
During the Syrian civil war, Abdul Aziz managed industrial activities in opposition-controlled areas and worked in various economic sectors, including cash management. His expertise led to his appointment as the Minister of Economy and Resources in the third, fourth, and fifth terms of the Syrian Salvation Government.
In 2024, following the fall of the Assad regime, Abdul Aziz was appointed minister of economy and foreign trade in the Syrian transitional government under prime minister Mohammed al-Bashir.
