Richard Hall (born November 22, 1967) is an American investment professional who serves as the President, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), and Chief Investment Officer (CIO) of the University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company (UTIMCO). UTIMCO manages the endowments for the University of Texas System and the Texas A&M University System.
Education
Hall earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from Harvard University and a Master of Business Administration from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, where he studied finance and strategy.
Career
Early Career
Hall began his career in mergers and acquisitions, holding positions at Bank of America, Tomkins plc, Dell Ventures, and Deutsche Bank Alex. Brown. These roles focused on corporate advisory and development work.
Teacher Retirement System of Texas
Hall served as the Head of Private Equity at the Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), where he oversaw investments in private equity and was a member of the Management Committee. At TRS, he worked with institutional investors and private equity firms.
Harvard Management Company
Hall was the Managing Director and Head of Private Equity at the Harvard Management Company (HMC), which manages the Harvard University endowment. He was a member of the Executive and Investment Committees and was involved in restructuring and managing the private equity portfolio.
UTIMCO
In 2018, Hall joined the University of Texas/Texas A&M Investment Management Company (UTIMCO) as Deputy Chief Investment Officer. Military Service
Before beginning his career in finance, Hall served as an intelligence officer in the United States Navy for six years.
