  • Clear vandalism of any origin may be reverted without restriction.
  • Reverts of edits made by anonymous (IP) editors that are not vandalism are exempt from the 1RR but are subject to the usual rules on edit warring. If you are in doubt, contact an administrator for assistance.

If you are unsure if your edit is appropriate, discuss it here on this talk page first. Remember: When in doubt, don't revert!

Redirect

Why is Syrian rebel/Syrian rebels redirected to Belligerents in the Syrian civil war? It should be redirected to this article Syrian opposition. ColorfulSmoke (talk) 15:41, 6 March 2021 (UTC)

Opps, i missed that "Syrian rebels" should not redirect here. ColorfulSmoke (talk) 11:26, 7 March 2021 (UTC)

Quick question

@Havsjö: What is a radical Syrian rebel and a moderate Syrian rebel? ColorfulSmoke (talk) 00:22, 25 December 2021 (UTC)

Name prior to 2012?

So officially the name of the Syrian opposition is the Syrian Arab Republic, but according to the Syrian Republic disambiguation page, this only started in 2012, a whole year after it was formed. If I had to assume the name from 2011 to 2012 I'd guess it was officially called the Syrian Republic like the disambiguation page implies, but I'm not fully sure as there is no citation. Skrattar du Fölora du (talk) 00:34, 15 May 2022 (UTC)

Lead too long

Per MOS:LEAD, lead should ideally be <= 4 paragraphs long. There are lots of small paragraphs that could be merged to meet that. 104.232.119.107 (talk) 03:15, 18 May 2024 (UTC)

Map change

Because of the recent rebel offensive, we should change the map to include the gains made by HTS. LordOfWalruses (talk) 14:53, 30 November 2024 (UTC)

“Southern Front” control should be added to map

The territory gained in southern Syria offensive (led by the opposition group “Southern Front”) is currently not shown on the map. This should be changed as soon as possible. LordOfWalruses (talk) 02:48, 7 December 2024 (UTC)

They are no longer the opposition.

They now control the government. NesserWiki (talk) 07:39, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

First paragraph

The introduction seems to imply that the name "Syrian opposition" only refers to the groups connected to the National Coalition of Syrian Revolutionary and Opposition Forces and its interim government. Shouldn't we specify that a broader definition of the "Syrian opposition" may include Tahrir al-Sham's salvation government ?

An even broader definition may also, unfortunately, include the Islamic state. However, I seldom see them - or the Kurds, for that matter - mentioned as part of the opposition. So we may abstain to mention ISIS in the first paragrapaph. However, I think we should make it more clear that "Syrian opposition" is an umbrella term for an array of movements including, so far, two different governments (which may soon merge with one another, but time will tell). Psychloppos (talk) 15:00, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

I just rewrote the first paragraph. At first glance, I'd say the article as a whole needs an update. Psychloppos (talk) 21:46, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
Yes, I agree with you, same with the "President" and "Prime Minister" on this article they only include the ones of the Interim Government, that's why I removed them, if these are added, tge ones of the Salvation Government should be added too. 77.191.108.115 (talk) 13:06, 9 December 2024 (UTC)

Why does the HTS now control all forces of all other Rebel Organizations?

We need sources to back it up, that HTS controls all of that territory currently displayed on the map, as the Southern Front and Al-Tanf did not relinquich everything they owned DerEchteJoan (talk) 18:58, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

It must be that somebody mistook the Opposition Forces alltogether on syria.livuamap.com for HTS and made the map totally wrong, some may revert this please? DerEchteJoan (talk) 19:03, 8 December 2024 (UTC)
Thank you. DerEchteJoan (talk) 19:26, 8 December 2024 (UTC)

Add the SDF Forces to the Map

The SDF Forces should now be shown on the map for clarification, as the Assad Regime has fallen DerEchteJoan (talk) 16:36, 9 December 2024 (UTC)

HTS control too extensively shown?

Don’t the SOR and SFA still exercise some control? If so, why is HTS shown to control all of their territory? LordOfWalruses (talk) 19:41, 9 December 2024 (UTC)

Remove the map, change the map, or change the legend.

The map, in its current form, is extremely unhelpful. The map seems to show the distinction between the civilian administrations that were considered part of the opposition (a seemingly random change from what it was trying to convey a few days ago), while the legend seems to be a weird amalgamation of both civilian administrations and military control. However, the article is now dedicated to the history of the opposition; a map showing the current situation - where they are no longer the opposition - makes no sense. Syrian oppositionSyrian opposition to Bashar al-Assad – update Panam2014 (talk) 17:39, 13 December 2024 (UTC)

Support as it adds clarity now that some of these factions are no longer in opposition, but in government. Dn9ahx (talk) 21:41, 13 December 2024 (UTC)
