Elden Ring Nightreign is an upcoming video game in development by FromSoftware. It is a standalone cooperative Elden Ring spinoff. Formally revealed at the Game Awards on December 2024, it is scheduled to be released in 2025 for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Gameplay
Nightreign is a cooperative action role-playing game set in a procedurally generated version of Limgrave, the first open-world area of Elden Ring. While the game has a singleplayer mode, it is intended to be played by teams of three players who collaborate over three in-game days to prepare for the final boss. Similar to battle royale games like Fortnite, Nightreign features a shrinking gameplay area which resets after players defeat the minor boss at the end of each in-game day.
Development
Elden Ring Nightreign is in development by FromSoftware for the the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. The game was formally revealed at the Game Awards on 12 December 2024 and is scheduled to be released in 2025. The first network test will take place in February 2025 on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, and players will be able to register on 10 January.
Nightreign is being directed by Junya Ishizaki, who worked at FromSoftware on Dark Souls, Bloodborne, Dark Souls 3, and Elden Ring. Unlike Elden Ring, George R. R. Martin has no influence on the story or the world of the game.
