Mihai Biță (born February 8, 1979), better known by his stage name Bitză is a Romanian rapper considered an important pillar in the development of this music genre. He achieved success in the early 2000s, receiving the Gold Disc in 2006 for the album Sinuciderea unui înger for selling over 15.000 units.
Career
Bitză discovered his passion for music as a teenager, with his first contact with it taking place between 1992-1993, when he started playing the guitar. Later, the artist became part of a well-known and active choir, blending the guitar with the piano. Even so, his passion for hip-hop music was stronger, and at the age of 19, Bitză debuted in Ro-Mania, a band that released many songs adapted from Romanian folk music.
After a year with Ro-Mania, Bitză decided to leave the band and later formed a new group with three other guys, named Déjà Vu. With this band, he explored several styles, ranging from RnB to dance. After just one album with Déjà Vu, Bitză decided to focus more on his solo career and left the band.
The moment when he became a well-known name in the Romanian hip-hop industry can be associated with when he was invited to perform, alongside Paraziții, the song "Fără tine" from the album "Categoria grea." Few people know that the chorus of "Vorbește vinul," written by Bitză, developed into two songs: "Fără tine" and "Vorbește vinul. From there, it was just one step to the success that would follow. In 2002, Bitză began performing in concerts with the band Paraziții. Bound by a strong friendship, but especially by incredible musical chemistry, the four artists managed to win the hearts of several generations.
Later, there was a period of uncertainty in Bitză's artistic life, as he wasn't sure whether he wanted to continue on the artistic path he had started or pursue studies at the Faculty of Accounting within the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies. Even so, during that time, with a heart that beat for hip-hop, Bitză composed a song with Sfinx Experience (Crina Mardare, Zoia Alecu), a track that won third place in the composition category at the Mamaia Festival.
Ombladon was the one who brought Bitză back into music in 2002, which was also the moment when the two began working on the artist's debut album, "Sevraj," released in 2004. The album features collaborations with Ombladon, Tata Vlad, FreakaDaDisk, Cheloo, DJDox, Raku, Adrian Despoy, and K-Gula. The song "Următorul pas," featuring Tataee (Tata Vlad), was the single chosen for the album Sevraj.
In 2005, Bitză released his second album, Sinuciderea unui înger, featuring guests such as L.Doc, K-Gula, DJ Undoo, Grasu XXL, VD, DJ Paul, Vanessa S, Deliric, Loredana, and Butch. A year later, in 2006, the album Sinuciderea unui înger received the Gold Disc from the Roton record label for selling over 15,000 units. "Fapte bune" is Bitză's third album, released in 2006. An "urban soul" album, it contains 16 tracks that tackle delicate topics while also featuring sensitive melodies, which set Bitză apart from other rappers in Romania. In 2009, he released his fourth album, Sufletul Orașului, and in 2010, his fifth album, Goana după fericire, which was produced independently and distributed with Gazeta Sporturilor.
In 2013, the album Liniște marked a new chapter in the soloist's career.
An artist too complex to be described in just a few words, Bitză has been in constant change throughout his career. His departure from Romania in 2014 came as a shock to everyone. Although things appeared differently from within the country, in reality, everything was going extremely well.Spain became his second home, but more importantly, it was the place where he found himself both professionally and personally.
Although he had been away from Romania for a significant period, Mihai Biță did not stay idle. The artist worked both on his solo career and for other international artists. The year 2021 brought a big surprise for Bitză's fans, as he released the song "Mama Spunea" in collaboration with Tataee (Tata Vlad), dedicated to the most important advice received from parents.
Created two and a half years earlier, in 2019, "„Mama Spunea”" has dual citizenship. Bitză began working on the song while in Spain, alongside Tata Vlad, and continued it back home in Romania. Impressed by the lyrics and the story of the song, Tata Vlad decided to collaborate with Bitză and release it together.
In addition to the lyrics that transform us from adults back into the children we once were, there is a special story behind the music video. The clip for the song "Mama Spunea" features Bitză and Tata Vlad in several scenes from different areas of Bucharest, with the two artists attempting to make a "small parallelism between the street, where we all come from, and the moment when you leave the street, when you step out of the neighborhood."
Despite being one of the most beloved artists in the rap scene in Romania, not everything has been smooth in Bitză's professional life. The artist went through a period when he felt his relationship with music had come to an end. After a one-year break during which he did nothing but listen to music, his thoughts eventually turned into songs, and his desire to fight for his dream became stronger than any emotional state.
Unique, sincere, and devoted to music, Bitză ranks among the top artists who write songs based solely on their own experiences or those of close friends. The artist continues to work steadily and consistently on his solo career and shares unique details about his friendships with well-known Romanian artists through his vlog "Vorbește Shotul" on his official YouTube channel.
