Charles Shavers was a state legislator in Florida. He lived in Key West.

Shavers Lane is in the Bahama Village neighborhood.

Peter Shavers was part of the group of 125 men from Key West in the Union Army who along with Harriet Tubman freed slaves in Florida (2nd South Carolina Volunteer Infantry Regiment) (Colored) of the (34th USCT)
