SV Diemen plays in the West I district. The youth selection teams play in the Hoofdklasse and division. The current board consists of chairman Henk van der Weele, secretary Charlotte Gabel, treasurer Jenne Termeer. In 2020, SV Diemen decided to stop playing performance football on Sundays as of the 2020/2021 season.
History
Establishment of Diemer Football and Athletics Association, abbreviated D.V.A.V., in the upper room of café-restaurant “De Kroon” with the aim of practicing and promoting the game of football and other sports. It tries to achieve this goal by holding exercises and playing matches by legal means and furthermore by other lawful means, which may be conducive to the goal. The very first board consists of the gentlemen J.H. Muller (chairman), H.C. van Dalen, Th. Markman, J. Nibbelink, H. Schonemeijer, G. Pieters and M. Martens The first fields are located on Ouderkerkerlaan and are rented from Mr. G. Pappot Sr. The fields are laid out by the members themselves and the official opening is carried out by the then Mayor Mr. A. de Wolff. The competition begins with two senior teams and one youth team (aspirants). The 1st senior team starts in the 3rd class of the Amsterdam Football Association (A.V.B.). The name D.V.A.V. is changed to sv Diemen on October 7, 1974. The 1st indoor soccer team of sv Diemen is presented. In 1975/1976 promotion from 3rd to 2nd class.
Sports Park De Diemen
Sportpark De Diemen has been redesiseted in the last period. On Saturday, September 3, 2022, the redesited sports park was officially opened. A lot has happened at Sportpark De Diemen in recent years. Two new associations have been added: Hockey Club Diemen and handball club SV Zeeburg. Baseball and Softball club TIW-Survivors has moved to Sportpark Middenmeer. The club has since merged with OVVO. The name of the fusion club is Amsterdam Capitals. Hockey club Diemen has had two hockey fields and a beautiful clubhouse with a terrace since the end of last year. One of the fields of HC Diemen is a water field and has a sustainable water storage under the field. Handball club sv Zeeburg has a handball field at the sports park. The field department of sv Zeeburg moved to Sportpark De Diemen last spring. The handball club uses the clubhouse and the locker rooms of sv Diemen. The indoor department of sv Zeeburg plays the home games in Sporthallen Diemen. Sv Diemen, who left Sportpark Spoorzicht behind the NS station in the center of Diemen in 1990 and settled at Sportpark De Diemen, has been given an extra field. A beach court has also been built at the sports park.
Cooperation with AJAX
SV Diemen is a partner club of AJAX. Together with about 40 other clubs from the region. The collaboration includes meetings in the field of football technology, training the trainer sessions, participation in tournaments on the Future and consultancy (for example in the field of video analysis and sponsorship). Through the collaboration, various talents from SV Diemen have made the switch to the AJAX youth.
Lift Sunday
During the Corona pandemic, it was decided not to continue with performance football on Sunday. From the 20/21 season, SV Diemen will only play performance football on Saturday.
