Bale Messenger (Persian: پیام‌رسان بانکی بله) is an Iranian instant messaging (IM), voice-over-IP (VoIP) service, social networking service, banking app, social payment platform, and financial technology platform operating an online payments system owned by the National Bank of Iran. It allows users to send text and voice messages, images and videos, make voice and video calls, share files, documents, user locations, send money, pay bills, purchase goods and services directly within the app, and more. Bale's client application runs on Android and can be accessed from computers and iOS devices via the web app. The service requires a mobile telephone number to sign up.

History

Bale Messenger was launched in December 2016, with the goal of providing a secure and versatile messaging service that integrates financial transactions. The app was developed to address the growing demand for unified services, combining communication, payments, and Services within a single platform. Bale Messenger is widely used in Iran and surrounding regions, offering both communication and financial services.

Features

• Integrated Financial Services: Users can send and receive money directly within the app, eliminating the need for third-party payment applications. This feature supports payments, fund transfers, and purchases of goods and services such as mobile recharge and utility bill payments, distinguishing Bale from other messaging platforms.
• Gifting as Money: Bale allows users to send and receive monetary gifts directly within the messaging section, enabling virtual gifting for various occasions. You can send or ask for money without needing the recipient's payment information, only their ID or phone number.
• Cross-Platform Connectivity: Bale's web version operates independently of the Android app, allowing users to access messages and data seamlessly across devices. Users can log into both Android and web apps without limitations, with all personal data synchronized across devices. There is no restriction on the number of Android and web devices that can be logged in simultaneously, and the primary phone is not required to register a Bale account or link new devices.
• Data Preservation: All personal data, including chat history, text messages, files, documents, contacts, images, and videos, is transferred to new devices without the need for backing up the data, with no limitations on the number of devices (Android or web app).
• Voice and Video Calls: The platform supports high-quality voice and video calls on both mobile apps (Android) and the web version (for PC and iOS), enabling face-to-face interactions regardless of location.
• Web Applications: Accessible via web applications for Windows, macOS, and iOS, Bale allows users to stay connected and manage finances from any internet-enabled device. The web app is optimized for performance and provides a seamless transition between devices without requiring login to the Android app.
• Security and Privacy: Bale employs advanced encryption technology to secure messages and financial transactions, adhering to high data protection standards to safeguard user privacy.
• Global Accessibility: Usable with any SIM card or phone number, Bale is accessible globally, serving as an international platform for messaging and transactions.
• Multimedia Messaging: Users can send text messages, images, videos, voice messages, and files, as well as create group chats and broadcast messages to multiple recipients simultaneously.
• Secrecy of Mobile Numbers: Users can choose a username so that people can find them without needing their phone number. The username must be at least 5 characters long with lowercase letters and numbers, and an optional underscore between characters.
• Changing Phone Number: By changing the phone number, all personal data including account information (name, username, profile picture, about me, etc.), personal, group, channel, bot messages and their history, group and channel ownership, and privacy and security settings are transferred to the new mobile number.
• Account Deletion: Users can delete their accounts, removing all personal data from Bale's servers.

Message Exchange Bus (MXB)

Bale connects with other Iranian messaging platforms like Eitaa, Soroush, and Rubika, allowing users to transfer text and data to contacts on these platforms without requiring them to have Bale, enhancing seamless communication across different services. This system is called Message Exchange Bus (MXB), created for the first time in Iran.

The Iranian Message Exchange Bus (MXB) is a technology that connects major Iranian messaging platforms like Bale, Eitaa, Soroush, Rubika, Gap and iGap. This system allows users to transfer text, multimedia files, and data seamlessly across different apps, ensuring uninterrupted communication regardless of the platform used. MXB enhances the user experience by providing a unified communication method, robust security measures, and the convenience of accessing contacts on various platforms without the need for multiple messaging accounts.

Social Networking Services

Bale has three main sections: the Chat section, the Flow section, and the Services section. Social networking services are primarily focused in the Flow section of the app, which is divided into the Vitrin and Magazine sections and displays both user and other users' statuses.

• Vitrin Section: This section displays numerous channels that are categorized and searchable.
• Magazine Section: This section features the best content from channels, as voted by users, displayed in a scrollable, short video format.
• Chat Section: In this section, users can access viral channels.

Channels and Broadcasts

Bale supports channels where users can subscribe to receive broadcast messages. These channels allow businesses, public figures, and organizations to communicate directly with large audiences through streamlined updates, news, and offers.

Statuses

Users can set personal statuses visible to their contacts or to all users. These statuses are used for self-expression or to share information about activities, moods, or events.

• Online Storefront (Feshnook): Bale includes an integrated online marketplace, allowing businesses to establish virtual stores where users can browse products, make purchases, and pay seamlessly within the app.

Child Mode

Bale Messenger includes a "Child Mode" feature designed to provide a safer and more controlled environment for younger users. This mode restricts access to certain features and content, ensuring a family-friendly experience. In Child Mode, parents or guardians can customize settings to filter out inappropriate content, limit the types of interactions children can have, and control which channels and messages the child can access. Parents can select specific sections to be shown to the child, providing more control over the child’s app usage. To exit Child Mode, a PIN must be entered, ensuring that the child cannot leave the mode without parental permission.

International Availability

All of Bale's features are available internationally, including messaging, voice and video calls, file transfers, Social Networking Services, bots, AI, and more. The only exception is its financial services, which are limited to the Iranian currency, Rial.
