Deletion Sorting Project |
---|
|
This is a collection of discussions on the deletion of articles related to Philippines. It is one of many deletion lists coordinated by WikiProject Deletion sorting. Anyone can help maintain the list on this page.
- Adding a new AfD discussion
- Adding an AfD to this page does not add it to the main page at WP:AFD. Similarly, removing an AfD from this page does not remove it from the main page at WP:AFD. If you want to nominate an article for deletion, go through the process on that page before adding it to this page. To add a discussion to this page, follow these steps:
- Edit this page and add {{Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion/PageName}} to the top of the list. Replace "PageName" with the relevant article name, i.e. the one on the existing AFD discussion. Also, indicate the title of the article in the edit summary as it is particularly helpful to add a link to the article in the edit summary. When you save the page, the discussion will automatically appear.
- You should also tag the AfD by adding {{subst:delsort|Philippines|~~~~}} to it, which will inform editors that it has been listed here. You may place this tag above or below the nomination statement or at the end of the discussion thread.
- There are a few scripts and tools that can make this easier.
- Removing a closed AfD discussion
- Closed AfD discussions are automatically removed by a bot.
- Other types of discussions
- You can also add and remove other discussions (prod, CfD, TfD etc.) related to Philippines. For the other XfD's, the process is the same as AfD (except {{Misplaced Pages:Miscellany for deletion/PageName}} is used for MFD and {{transclude xfd}} for the rest). For PRODs, adding a link with {{prodded}} will suffice.
- Further information
- For further information see Misplaced Pages's deletion policy and WP:AfD for general information about Articles for Deletion, including a list of article deletions sorted by day of nomination.
This list is also part of the larger list of deletion debates related to Asia.

Fails WP:NCORP. The company is common in the bus industry in the Philippines, but that does not necessarily make it notable enough to warrant a standalone article. The majority of the article's content is unsourced, and the references used are unreliable, with some pointing to tourism websites that may fall under WP:AFFILIATE or WP:UGC. A quick internet search reveals only passing mentions of "Philtranco" in news outlets, mostly in the context of bus accidents involving the company. This is insufficient to establish notability as per WP:INHERITORG and WP:CORPTRIV. AstrooKai (Talk) 06:10, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

The resort which covers Pamalican island fails WP:GNG. Only sources are from travel guides. Hariboneagle927 (talk) 09:41, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

- Merge to Pamalican. I don't think it makes sense to have two separate articles about the resort and the island when they both occupy the same area. —seav (talk) 03:20, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- Merge to Pamalican per the same reason as Seav's. Though it got me thinking, are both subjects (the resort and the island) notable enough to have an article? AstrooKai (Talk) 08:28, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- Comment The island itself meets WP:GEONATURAL. --Lenticel 08:07, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- Merge parts worth merging, overlapping subjects with a stub each. CMD (talk) 10:35, 25 December 2024 (UTC)
- Merge per above --Lenticel 08:07, 26 December 2024 (UTC)
- Merge and redirect to Pamalican per above. CruzRamiss2002 (talk) 12:15, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- Leaning keep The article has issues but the resort in its own right is notable. Among others, it won an award seven times in a row, is covered in trade publications (also this one), has been written about in lifestyle magazines (also this one), and was even listed in the Michelin Guide. Now I think we need to clearly delineate the two as the island itself is also notable, but let's not jump the gun here and presume the resort itself isn't notable when it is. The better question to ask is whether there should be one article or two. --Sky Harbor 05:14, 28 December 2024 (UTC)

Contested PROD. No evidence of notability, and no apparent need for a standalone article on this network. CycloneYoris 18:47, 23 December 2024 (UTC)

- Delete. The network clearly failed WP:GNG and WP:SIGCOV. The article's content was derived from government documents obtained through FOI requests from the Philippine government, which could constitute a violation of WP:NOR. Additionally, the article lacks secondary sources. Although Kaissar was previously a member of the Kapisanan ng mga Brodkaster ng Pilipinas (KBP), it no longer holds that status. However, KBP membership alone does not establish notability. AstrooKai (Talk) 07:35, 24 December 2024 (UTC)

- Delete. Besides failing WP:NCORP, the article is completely unsourced. AstrooKai (Talk) 09:41, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- This is a notice. The article has been draftified by Hetupeahelandia while this discussion is open and ongoing. AstrooKai (Talk) 12:47, 24 December 2024 (UTC)
- Keep. The subject is notable within its local context, and I plan to add reliable sources to support its notability soon. Please allow time for improvements.
- Pricehissam (talk) 05:03, 27 December 2024 (UTC)
- You only have until December 30 to do so. Personally, I don't think the company is notable at all. A Google search of the company only return blog and primary websites, which are not enough to establish its notability. It needs independent and reliable sources to establish notability, and to also verify the information in the article since it is completely unsourced. AstrooKai (Talk) 05:49, 27 December 2024 (UTC)

Page heavily edited by a user who was blocked for promotional editing. Sources found in article are mostly primary and these appear to have been added for promotional purposes. Notability also seems to be lacking, and there is no evidence that this subject warrants an encyclopedic article. CycloneYoris 19:06, 22 December 2024 (UTC)

- Delete: Sourcing in the article isn't sufficient, and this is about all I could find . Gsearch is only showing primary sources, their website, a facebook page. Nothing for notability. Oaktree b (talk) 22:38, 22 December 2024 (UTC)
- Delete. Fails WP:GNG and WP:SIGCOV. The article relies heavily on primary sources, and only blogs and/or non-independent sources that cover this community are available. As Oaktree b said, nothing is available that can prove its notability. AstrooKai (Talk) 08:35, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
- Delete. Not seeing any WP:SIGCOV in independent, reliable, secondary sources. Dclemens1971 (talk) 13:24, 23 December 2024 (UTC)
