Costantino Carrara (born April 18, 1997) is an Italian pianist, composer and arranger. He is known for his piano arrangements of popular songs uploaded on YouTube and for his music project called WildPianos, which aims to bring acoustic pianos into nature. His most viewed video of all time is his arrangement of "Let Her Go" by Passenger.
Life
Costantino Carrara was born in Bitonto, Italy. started playing piano through a keyboard received as a gift from his grandparents. At the age of 12, he starts taking piano lessons and in the same year he opens his YouTube channel, uploading his first music performances. Even though he has a classical background, he found his main inspiration in pop and jazz music, and he furthered his studies at Conservatorio Niccolò Piccinni where he graduated with honors.
Career
Costantino Carrara launched his YouTube channel in November 2009, uploading piano covers of popular songs. Notably, his arrangements have been acclaimed by Coldplay in 2016 when Chris Martin retweeted his video of "Adventure Of A Lifetime".
In 2016 Costantino Carrara successfully crowdfunded his "WildPianos" project, which proposes to bring piano into nature. He shot the first video of the series in the Apulian countryside, garnered over 1.5 million views. In 2019 he flew his grand piano to Iceland to shoot two videos placing the grand piano in a canyon and on a fjord. In 2019 he held a music tour in China, playing seven shows all around the country.
Musical style and influences
Carrara's musical style is a seamless fusion of classical and contemporary elements, creating a distinctive sound that appeals to a diverse audience. His arrangements are crafted as though the pieces were originally composed for solo piano, taking full advantage of the instrument's expressive potential.
