Submission declined on 27 December 2024 by Bonadea (talk). This submission appears to read more like an advertisement than an entry in an encyclopedia. Encyclopedia articles need to be written from a neutral point of view, and should refer to a range of independent, reliable, published sources, not just to materials produced by the creator of the subject being discussed. This is important so that the article can meet Misplaced Pages's verifiability policy and the notability of the subject can be established. If you still feel that this subject is worthy of inclusion in Misplaced Pages, please rewrite your submission to comply with these policies. This draft's references do not show that the subject qualifies for a Misplaced Pages article. Atmosphere Press is a publishing company based out of Austin, TX. Founded in 2015 by Dr. Nick Courtright, Atmosphere Press offers hybrid publishing contracts, and in the years since has expanded its services to include marketing, promotions, web development, editorial coaching, illustration, and cover design.

History

Atmosphere Press was founded by author Dr. Nick Courtright in 2015 based on the five core tenets of honesty, transparency, professionalism, kindness, and superior tradecraft. In an interview, Courtright said, "I started Atmosphere Press almost accidentally. I was working with a talented poet who didn't want to endure the ordeal that is literary publishing's ceaseless rejection tornado, and because I had years of experience in putting out books with Gold Wake Press, I asked him what he would think of my publishing his book for him. That was how Atmosphere was born — out of service to an author."

The company gives its authors final veto power over any decisions regarding content so that they maintain artistic autonomy over their creative vision. Although it is an author-friendly publisher, that does not mean that every manuscript submission it receives is accepted.

Atmosphere Press uses a "partnership" model, and Art Director Ronaldo Alves says "My role as an Art Director is to ensure that the covers we create visually translate the authors' concept". Beginning in 2021 they began offering one-on-one digital book promotion calls. Their Founder published his third book in 2021.

Publications

Atmosphere Press authors have been reviewed in The Independent Book Review, Midwest Book Review, Feathered Quill, Kirkus, and Publisher's Weekly Booklife.
