Naira Singhania Goenka is the protagonist of the television series Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. Created by Rajan Shahi under Director's Kut Productions, the series became a cultural phenomenon. After Akshara, the legacy of the series was taken by Naira. Portrayed by Shivangi Joshi, Naira is regarded among the most memorable characters in Indian television. She is known for her positive character which is outspoken and fearless.

Development

In November 2016, Hina Khan playing Akshara quit as her character became monotonous for her and she was shown killed in a car accident. While Joshi playing Naira, who entered in May 2016, become the leads as the story focused on their journey.

Characterization

Naira is a fearless and out-spoken girl from Udaipur, who is known for her positive nature. She left her family in very young age due to conflict with her mother Akshara and lives in an orphanage in Rishikesh. Later the conflict was resolved. But her mother Akshara accidentally dies by falling off a cliff. Later Naira and Kartik falls in love an get married but the marriage also had many issues due to misunderstanding. Niara is shown as a dutiful daughter and daughter-in-law, a caring wife and a loving mother. Joshi's portrayal of the character has a blend of warmth, strength, and emotional depth.

Legacy and influence

Joshi's portrayal of Naira has garnered significant acclaim, establishing her as a beloved character in Indian television. Her performance has contributed to the show's longevity and earned her several accolades. Her chemistry with Mohsin Khan was highly appreciated by the audience and established her as a leading actress in Indian television.
