The Siege of Hadaftimo occurred in February 2008 as part of the broader territorial disputes in the Sanaag region between Somaliland and Puntland. Somaliland armed forces laid siege to the town of Hadaftimo, creating a state of emergency in the area. However, the troops later withdrew into the city of Erigavo. In response, the self-declared Maakhir state bolstered its military presence in Erigavo.

The siege was part of ongoing disputes between Somaliland and Puntland over the Sanaag region. Hadaftimo, a strategic town in the contested area, has been a frequent flashpoint in the conflict.

Aftermath
