- Bulgaria and Romania finalized the process of joining the Schengen Area, lifting land border controls.
- Liechtenstein will become the 39th country to legalize same-sex marriage.
- January 9 – The state funeral of former US President Jimmy Carter will be held.
- January 12 – The second round of the 2024–25 Croatian presidential election is scheduled to be held.
- January 19 – A ban on TikTok in the United States is scheduled to go into effect.
- January 22 – Thailand will become the 40th country to legalize same-sex marriage.
- January 26 – The 2025 Belarusian presidential election is scheduled to be held.
- February 9
- The 2025 Ecuadorian general election is scheduled to be held.
- The 2025 Liechtenstein general election is scheduled to be held.
- February 23 – The 2025 German federal election is scheduled to be held, after being pushed forward as a result of the 2024 German government crisis.
- March 31 – The Caribbean guilder is planned to be introduced, replacing the Netherlands Antillean guilder as the currency for Curaçao and Sint Maarten.
