The Meritorious Unit Citation is a collective group decoration awarded to members of Australian military units. It recognises sustained outstanding service in warlike operations. The Meritorious Unit Citation was created in 1991, along with the Unit Citation for Gallantry. As of June 2006, 16 awards have been made.

Description

The design of a Meritorious Unit Citation is a gilt sterling-silver frame, with a design of flames emanating from the edge to the centre. The frame surrounds a ribbon bar of old gold, which displays a rhodium-silver Federation Star on its centre.

Members who join a unit after the citation is awarded may be entitled to wear the insignia whilst a member of a unit , but without the Federation Star.
