My admin logs: Write below here user 207.69.138.137Someone with the ip 207.69.138.137 has been committing petty vandalism (see article Certiorari), and I have seen you have warned this user before. Can you block this individual.--Bww11bww11 22:35, 16 April 2007 (UTC) RFCNWhy? I already knew the user's explanation of what his name meant and his reason for picking it was. I wasn't looking for it to be blocked, I just wanted to know what other people thought. I wasn't looking for him to have to change his name... I was just requesting comments on the username. I made him aware of the RfC, and he could have commented there if he wanted. I'll continue to ignore all rules if it helps me. But you're more than welcome to choose a different way. Help on Farpoint MediaI made a few minor tweaks, and added a ref to the version of Farpoint Media that's in your Sandbox currently. I also put a URL in there to an episode of Cover to Cover which was an anniversary show where they spoke some about the early days of Farpoint Media. I haven't had a chance yet to relisten to the podcast and take notes. I may be able to later this week or maybe this coming weekend, but made sure to leave the URL in case someone else had time or I wasn't able to get to it. Getting Evo involved would get the best information, but then there's the concern of Original Research and possible perceived issues around WP:NPOV. - Fordan 18:43, 23 April 2007 (UTC)

Could you add you comments on these schools to Misplaced Pages:WikiProject Schools/Assessment. This helps us keep track of who is working on assessments. Thanks Victuallers 09:54, 24 April 2007 (UTC) Re: 'Sup BrahHi Kukini, no, I do not know Kuākini, but good to know that there are others from Hawai'i all the way out here on the East Coast! My comment had a purpose: please know that claiming to know and practice "local kine Pidgin" is a pretty weighty statement, akin to being a kanaka and identifying with hawaiian sovereignty issues and such. I realize that wikipedia userpages are intended to be pretty arbitrary and non-weighty space, but use the pidgin moniker with care. A simple 'sup brah could lead you into trouble were you to ever visit the state, especially being a haole. If you just put the tag up on your userpage as a joke, I'd ask that you remove it. If you do know and practice pidgin, then by all means keep it up there. thanks, 128.103.171.158 23:37, 23 April 2007 (UTC), or, Mahaloplenty 23:46, 24 April 2007 (UTC) You helped choose Government as this week's WP:ACID winner
Re: questions of authenticationhi kukini, this is not an issue of where you were born/where you grew up. Haunani K. Trask was born in California of all places, and she tries to cover that up as much as possible. Personally, I think it's a bit problematic for her to do so and am in the process of publishing several articles critiquing the rhetoric of her and other hawaiian studies specialists. And no offense, but growing up on the north shore is no biggie. Almost like saying you're from kailua. Notice the flack from Catherine Toth's blog on the Honolulu Advertiser about maui fever and all the haoles who try to be local. And this doesn't come down to race. I know plenty of moke caucasians who can speak pidgin; at the same time there are plenty of haoles (and locals) up here at Harvard from Hawaii who can't speak and understand a word of pidgin. Morphophonemic iteration in writing is also problematic; paul theroux, probably one of the more prolific writers on contemporary hawaii (but ignored by the academy, probability because he's haole) writes haole as "howlee"--but then again he's not dealing with a Hawaiian readership. I understand where he's coming from in the tradition of Mark Twain and regionalist writing, but his adherence to strict phonemic writing precludes him from serious consideration by local writers. At the same time, Trask continually defends her use of pidgin in published poetry, despite her near-complete disregard by the rest of the academy. I only mention that since you seem focused on Arizona/Oklahoma issues. Not that I don't know any kanakas who have moved up there, but I'd assume a more passionate focus on Hawaiian issues to authenticate your claim to pidgin roots. My crew coach went to hana hauoli for all of one year as a military brat, and yet he still signs his name "Aloha, Bob" even though he hasn't been back to the state since he was eight years old. That's more of an issue of groping for identity than authenticity. And even then, do you really speak pidgin or would you get a false crack to the face if you tried back in the aina? Just curious.
