Scott Savol is a finalist on the 2005 season of American Idol. He was born in Shaker Heights, Ohio, and is father to a 4 year-old son. He also plays the trumpet and has performed at city and church functions.

During the competition, The Smoking Gun reported that Savol had been charged with misdemeanor assault for hitting his girlfriend and mother of his son with a telephone on Valentine's Day of 2001 so hard that the phone broke. Savol pled the charge down to disorderly conduct, for which he received probation and was ordered to complete a domestic abuse or anger management class; his girlfriend received a temporary restraining order against him. Savol had also been convicted of misdemeanor trespass in 1995 for entering Shaker Heights High School after being told both verbally and in writing to stay out of the building. Idol producers said that Savol had already disclosed these incidents to them and that "considering Scott's honesty and his remorse, the situation did not warrant his disqualification."

As of the last American Idol voting results show, which aired on April 27 2005, Savol is currently one of the final five contestants.
