This page is a place to list foreign language articles on the English Misplaced Pages, to see if they can be translated before they are listed on Misplaced Pages:Articles for deletion. If someone speaks the language the article is written in and can state that it is not worth translating, the item should be moved to AfD or tagged with {{prod}}. Foreign language articles about people which have no assertion of notability can now be listed for speedy deletion using the template {{Db-bio-notenglish|language}}.

If the article is a mere copy of (all or part of) an article in a foreign-language Misplaced Pages, it can just be tagged with {{db-foreign}} to get added to Misplaced Pages:Candidates for speedy deletion: we want to discourage people who cut articles from one Misplaced Pages and paste to another without translating. If the intent is to ask for a translation, the correct place to do that is Misplaced Pages:Translation. As an alternative, you can leave a message on the contributing users talk-page using the templates from Misplaced Pages:Pages needing translation into English/Templates for user talk pages or using {{UE}}.
Sometimes, legitimate articles are replaced by foreign-language content. In this case, the last English-language version should be restored from the history.
If an article has been listed here for two weeks and is still untranslated, it should be moved to AfD. When moving items to AfD, the boilerplate text on the article should be changed from {{notenglish}} to {{subst:afd}} and the other deletion steps should be carried out.
When listing a page here, you might want to find the Misplaced Pages:Embassy or Ambassador member of the Misplaced Pages that relates to the language the article is in and invite them to move the page to their own Misplaced Pages. If you don't even know what language the article is in you could use Language recognition chart and if that fails, some language recognition web site, such as xrce, or languid.cantbedone.org to find out. Please leave a note on this page if you do this to prevent duplication of messages. If you have come here from another Misplaced Pages, please note on this page what you think should be done with the article.
Please check for copyvio before listing here. (Articles which meet the criteria for CSD G12 can be speedily deleted with {{db-copyvio}}, others copyvios should be listed on WP:CP.) If you can tell what language an article is written in, that might help. Also consider posting the first line or so.
When pages listed here have been translated, their entry can be removed (or moved to cleanup if the translation needs another pair of eyes).

Boilerplate text
For a page that needs translation in its entirety (so it would be appropriate to delete if not fixed):
- 1. Use the notice {{Notenglish|NameOfLanguage}} if you know the language used, or {{Notenglish}} if you cannot identify the language of the page in question. The template will show up as:
Please see this article's entry on Pages needing translation into English for discussion. If the article is not rewritten in English within the next two weeks it will be listed for deletion and possibly moved to a Misplaced Pages in its current language.
If you have just labeled this page as needing translation, please add
{{subst:Needtrans| pg=Pages needing translation into English| Language=unknown| Comments=}} ~~~~
to the bottom of this section of Pages needing translation into English.
- 2. Add a mention on this page, using:
- {{subst:Needtrans| pg= | Language=NameOfLanguage| Comments= }}--~~~~ replacing NameOfLanguage with the English name of the language if you know which language was used, or {{subst:Needtrans| pg= | Language=unknown| Comments= }}--~~~~ if you cannot identify the language used
- 3. You may also choose to warn the contributing editor with {{Uw-english}}, the "use English" warning, or suggest to use a different language Misplaced Pages with {{contrib-xx1}}, where xx is the language code.
If there is just a section that needs translation, that notice is inappropriate, so it's a little trickier:
- 1. Use ].
- 2. Add an appropriate note at the top of the page in question, e.g.:
- ''Section ] contains text that needs translation into English.''.
- 3. Add a mention on this page.
If the article has been translated, but needs attention from someone approaching dual fluency in both languages:
- 1. Use the notice {{cleanup-translation}}, which will show up as:
Please see this article's entry on Pages needing translation into English for discussion.
If you have just labeled this page as needing such attention, please add
{{subst:Duflu| pg=Pages needing translation into English| Language= | Comments= }}--~~~~
to the bottom of Pages needing translation into English.
- 2. Add a mention to the translation cleanup section on this page.

Nikortsminda
The language of this article is unknown. It's probably Georgian, but I can't make my browser show it as proper writing rather than question marks or squares. Bonadea 10:58, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- It's Georgian and shows up fine on my browser. -Yupik 11:00, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- There is no Georgian-language Wiki page linked to it. Maybe it's related to ? Cbdorsett 15:55, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- Nikortsminda itself is a place in Georgia which seems to have a bit of English-language coverage online. If we can't get this particular version translated (and even if we can and it turns out to be nothing much), a real article shouldn't be hard to write. If that turns out to be the best option, drop me a line and I'll see what I can rustle up. BigHaz - Schreit mich an 22:24, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

May vietnamese. No idea if the contet is worth it. --Tikiwont 09:23, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- Clearly Vietnamese. It's about a modern singer with a few albums to his credit. I don't know if it meets the Misplaced Pages standards for notability (biography). Cbdorsett 13:22, 23 April 2007 (UTC)
- The language of this article is Vietnamese. He is a very famous singer in Vietnam, and I think his bio deserves Misplaced Pages's notability. Google on his name and you'll see. There are less popular Vietnamese artists bio on here, then there's no reason his shouldn't be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.91.105.129 (talk • contribs)

The language of this article is Serbian?. WWGB 14:34, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- Serbian - Probably copyvio from somewhere, but Google did not give any hints. I tried both latin and cyrillic. Andreas 23:22, 24 April 2007 (UTC)
- Mixing Cyrilic and Latin scripts, several recensions quoted verbatim, I think this is pretty obviously copyvio. Finding from where it was copied seems to be a bit harder though. Its most likely the article copies several other articles. One of which seems to be newsletter Glas javnosti, online edition of which has only short blurbs on each article covered with this blurb being most likely sauce. Other source is most likely Politika but they dont have full text search so I dont wanna bother with it. Shinhan 11:31, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

Ovvoru Pookalume
The lyrics to this song are still in Tamil. The song is from the film Autograph. -Yupik 14:03, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- It seems to be much more than just lyrics. The only thing in English is the names of the artists - the rest just looks like straight text. Should be evaluated for notability by a Tamil speaker. Cbdorsett 06:23, 29 April 2007 (UTC)
Fischia il Vento
The language of this article is Italian. Song lyrics. SueHay 23:23, 25 April 2007 (UTC)
- Move to some other wikiproject...? --Sn0wflake 13:32, 26 April 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah. The lyrics could be moved to wikisource: once they have been verified and checked for copyright. (The author died, at the hands of the Nazi-Fascists, indeed, on 27 January 1944. Am I right in thinking that life of author plus 50 years makes it o.k.? Needs checking.) On the other hand a stub is worth having I’m sure. Someone has already taken steps to achieve that, but I’m putting an {{intranslation}} tag on it not to imply that I am translating the lyrics, but because the quickest way to make sure the stub is long enough to be a short stub, will be to source it from the article in the Italian Misplaced Pages. And I can’t do that for an hour or two. —Ian Spackman 12:29, 27 April 2007 (UTC)

The language of this article is Italian. Another article pastd in wholesale with no English content. It doesn't appear to be a steal from anywhere else on the www Kim dent brown 16:40, 2 May 2007 (UTC)
- The topic of the article is the medieval Kingdom of Italy (not to be confused with the ~1850-1950 state of the same name). The English article already has a lot of information, but this Italian one seems to be more detailed. I'm pretty suspicious of the origins of this text... looks like it came from a textbook or something. Can someone who speaks Italian ask the user who posted it, Falletti?
