Revision as of 17:20, 3 May 2005 by Bedford (talk | contribs) (This is the first version for the Guardians of the Galaxy entry)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)The Guardians of the Galaxy are a fictional superhero team done by Marvel Comics, who are active in an alternate future of the main Marvel Universe history. The original members were Martinex (from Pluto), Vance Astro (an astronaut from the 20th Century who was placed in suspended animation), Charlie-27 (a militiaman from Jupiter), and Yondu from Alpha Centauri. Each were supposedly the last of their kind, and were forced to become a tea, due to the actions of the Badoon, a reptilean alien race who seeked to rule the Solar system. Eventually the team, after the occasional guest appearance by regular Marvel heros like the Defenders, defeated the Badoon. This allowed them to travel across the galaxy and attain the new members of Starhawk and Nikki. They would evetually become honorary Avangers when helping the team against Korvac. It was just after the Korvac saga that Vance Astro would attempt to stop himself from becoming an astronaut by meeting his future self. The feedback caused by Astro meeting himself resulted in the Guardians timeline separating from the main timeline, ad cause the main line's Vance Astrovik to eventually join the New Warriors as Marvel Boy and then join the Avengers as Justice.
Those who have been members of the Guardians are:
Aleta (once married/joined with Starhawk, can contruct solid light objects) Charlie-27 (Jovian militiaman, with enhanced strength) Hollywood (Simon Williams/Wonder Man) Major Victory (Vance Astro when removed from his life-preserving suit and carried Captain America's shield) Martinex (projects heat and cold, crystalline body) Nikki (flame haired, amazing dexterity, sharpshooter) Replica (young Skrull) Starhawk (empowered by the Hawk God, has lived his life numerous times so has pseudo precognition) Talon (cat-like Inhuman) Yondu (Holy man, amazing archery skills)
The Guardians had a 62-issue run starting in April 1990, but jumped the shark when their original penciller/write, Jim Valentino, was forced to leave Marvel after working on his own comic for Image, Shadowhawk. What happened after the events of Guardians of the Galaxy #62 have never been revealed.
