Child pornography refers to pornographic images of children. The production of child pornography is widely regarded as a form of child abuse. As such the images are illegal in most countries. Some outlaw only production, while others also prohibit possession of child pornography. Such images are illegal in some countries while other allow possession of child pornography. The methods used to capture may not involve coercion or manipulation.
There is no clear link between child pornography consumption and sexual aggression towards children. Child pornography can also function as a substitute for real sexual interaction with children.
