Welcome—request protection of a page, file, or template here.
    Shortcuts

Before requesting, read the protection policy. Full protection is used to stop edit warring between multiple users or to prevent vandalism to high-risk templates; semi-protection and pending changes are usually used to prevent IP and new user vandalism (see the rough guide to semi-protection); and move protection is used to stop pagemove revert wars. Extended confirmed protection is used where semi-protection has proved insufficient (see the rough guide to extended confirmed protection)

After a page has been protected, it is listed in the page history and logs with a short rationale, and the article is listed on Special:Protectedpages. In the case of full protection due to edit warring, admins should not revert to specific versions of the page, except to get rid of obvious vandalism.

Semi-protect MartinBot just reverted to a vandalised version because there are that many vandal edits occuring it can not keep up. DrKiernan 15:46, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

    Declined, - per WP:NOPRO - it's on the main page - Alison 15:48, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

WRONG That is NOT the policy. Read it. Misplaced Pages:Main Page featured article protection DrKiernan 15:49, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

No need to shout :) I've read it - it's not policy. Per my interpretation, it shouldn't be protected. It's the most visible article, gets reverted instantly (did one myself just now) and may be a new editor's first experience of editing WP. It's already move-protected, so what's the worst that could happen? - Alison 15:53, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
I apologise for shouting. I should have phrased that more politely. DrKiernan 15:56, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 2 months, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. Kusma (talk) 13:06, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks. Two questions (I'm new to this). One - why is there nothing at the top of the article to say it is semi-protected? Two - why only two months? This article draws vandals like moths to the flame, as can be seen in page history... Robinson weijman 13:36, 1 June 2007 (UTC)
    (1) There's a small padlock in the top right corner, a less intrusive version of the protection notice. (2) I don't like indefinite semiprotection; better to test every now and then whether it is still necessary. Kusma (talk) 13:57, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

    Current requests for unprotection

    Shortcuts

Before posting, first discuss with the protecting admin on their talk page. Post below only if you receive no reply.

    • To find out the username of the admin who protected the page, click on "history" at the top of the page, then click on "View logs for this page," which is under the title of the page. The protecting admin is the username in blue before the words "protected", "changed protection level" or "pending changes". If there are a number of entries on the log page, you might find it easier to select "Protection log" or "Pending changes log" from the dropdown menu in the blue box.
    • Requests to downgrade full protection to template protection on templates and modules can be directed straight here; you do not need to ask the protecting admin first.
    • Requests for removing create protection on redlinked articles are generally assisted by having a draft version of the intended article prepared beforehand.
    • If you want to make spelling corrections or add uncontroversial information to a protected page, please add {{Edit fully-protected}} to the article's talk page, along with an explanation of what you want to add to the page. If the talk page is protected, please use the section below.

Check the archives if you cannot find your request. Only recently answered requests are still listed here.

    Bob Saget (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

While this article has seen it's fair share of vandalism, it seems to have been incorrectly protected. The bulk of the article's content has been removed for sourcing reasons, and then protected. What's bizarre about this is that almost all of the souring issues are painfully easy to correct. The only issue I see is a few examples of OR that should be removed, but the bulk of the content is true and can be fixed in one day (I've found most of the sources already). This page protection seems to be an overreaction, or maybe there's something else going on here that I'm not seeing. Please unprotect so that sources may be added. -- Ned Scott 20:36, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Current requests for significant edits to a protected page

    Shortcut

Ideally, requests should be made on the article talk page rather than here.

    • Unless the talk page itself is protected, you may instead add the appropriate template among {{Edit protected}}, {{Edit template-protected}}, {{Edit extended-protected}}, or {{Edit semi-protected}} to the article's talk page if you would like to make a change rather than requesting it here. Doing so will automatically place the page in the appropriate category for the request to be reviewed.
    • Where requests are made due to the editor having a conflict of interest (COI; see Misplaced Pages:Suggestions for COI compliance), the {{Edit COI}} template should be used.
    • Requests to move move-protected pages should be made at Misplaced Pages:Requested moves, not here.
    • If the discussion page and the article are both protected preventing you from making an edit request, this page is the right place to make that request. Please see the top of this page for instructions on how to post requests.
    • This page is not for continuing or starting discussions regarding content should both an article and its discussion page be protected. Please make a request only if you have a specific edit you wish to make.

    Teddington (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

Someone keeps changing his IP address to get around banning and tries to call it "a leafy, green and highly desirable London suburb". It is highly persistent: see recent history and talk pages. Alexllew 19:16, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Declined. The editor appears to be using certain ranges. Blocking the ranges or even the individual IPs would do. --Deskana (talk) 19:41, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Protect until dispute resolved - People are continuously changing the AS Monaco flag from Monaco to France and Vice-Versa, people are arguing about it on the talk page but yet it can still not be resolved Chaza93 19:12, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

    GameTZ.com (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views)

semi-protect. High level of IP vandalism. Failed AFD was infested with sockpuppets; same IP vandals are continuing to install false notability templates despite warnings and reverts by many other users. Seicer (talk) (contribs) 18:06, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

comment I won't bother to vote, given suspicions raised by my dynamic IP range. However, the article fails to establish notability, so tagging it was necessary. A couple of editors are assuming strong ownership over the article, and calling in favors from other users to deter any changes to it. This is NOT a case of vandalism. Please review the article's references and judge for yourself. 209.172.41.63 18:11, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

comment Also, bear in mind that the measures taken in the previous AfD were necessary to draw attention to the issue. Unfortunately, some administrators are indeed guilty of violating Wiki policy on ocassions. Dealing with them is a difficult task depending on their favorability. In this specific case, I feel it necessary to remain anonymous to avoid any further disruption to Misplaced Pages other than that stemming from the bad article in question. I hope these measures are not misunderstood, although they're certainly not the most constructive method of addressing this problem.

Now that I've drawn enough attention to the issue, I believe I can leave it alone for now. Please consider what I've stated above and investigate my claims further. This is all I ask. 209.172.41.139 18:19, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Semi-protected for a period of 1 week, after which the page will be automatically unprotected. - pointless POV-pushing by dynamic IP editor (sorry, but it's just plain disruptive at this point) - Alison 18:40, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

    Semi-protection expiry 1 week.

I need some protection. I've been vandalized twice in 2 days. And the *censored word here* don't know what they are talking about. I wasn't named after a freaking object in the sky. I was named after the Angry Sun from SMB3. IPs and Vandals need to get that straight. Angry Sun 23:17, 31 May 2007 (UTC)
