The University offers undergraduate education in several subjects such as Business Administration, Electrical and Telecommunications Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Pharmacy, Architecture, Microbiology, Economics, English and Environmental Studies. It also offers graduate educations for most of the mentioned subjects.
The university was established in 1992, and in the following year had its formal inauguration in February, 1993. NSU had its first convocation in December, 1996, when 96 students graduated. The school had an enrollment of 3,798 students in 2005.
NSU is located in 12 Kemal Attaturk Avenue in Banani. A permanent campus is being built in Bashundhara. The campus in Banani consists of five bulidings. They are named Sher Tower, Lifo Tower, Star Tower, BTA Tower and GMQ Tower. The GMQ Tower was named after a late proctor of North South university.They are now going to change their location on Bashundhara.
