Revision as of 02:48, 16 June 2007 by Wilhelmina Will (talk | contribs) (→Millie)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)This page is a list of students at the fictional school South Park Elementary in the animated series South Park. This does not include family members, townsfolk, the school staff, minor characters, or one-off characters.
4th Graders
Anne Polk
Anne Polk (aka Annie) is one of the girls in the fourth grade, She is voiced by Mona Marshall but has only spoken when Mrs. Garrison was putting people in pairs for a school project in Follow that Egg! and in the episode "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset." Very little is known about Anne. She has short curly blonde hair and a wears brown top with a black skirt. Her name was first heard in Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset, when she was at Stupid Spoiled Whore with Sally, Red, and Bebe. She sounds very much like the South Park Bart Simpson from Cartoon Wars Part II. Anne is usually seen with the other girls, Wendy Testaburger, Bebe Stevens, Heidi Turner, and Sally.
Barbara "Bebe" Stevens
Bebe Stevens is Wendy Testaburger's best friend, helping her in situations such as getting Stan back from substitute teacher Ms. Ellen in the episode "Tom's Rhinoplasty". Bebe is usually seen with Wendy. When she is seen, she usually is talking with Wendy about clothes, crushes, etc. Bebe is more likely to pursue these topics first; nevertheless, she, like Wendy, seems to regard these things as with a grain of salt, as in "Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society," where she wishes to get reduction surgery on her tiny breasts, rather than have boys like her for shallow reasons. She apparently aspires for a meaningful career, as a lawyer or marine biologist, rather than growing up as a large-chested dumb blonde like her mother(even though she has no qualms about joining the other girls in behaving like a stupid spoiled whore). She was in love with Kyle, and tried to pursue a relationship with him, but decided that she couldn't take the "codependency", and started dating Clyde. However, in some episodes, she seems to still hold feelings for Kyle.
Bertha
Bertha (up until later seasons) was a character seen at the back of the main characters' class. People used to recognise her as the red haired girl. Bertha's name is often given as "Red" in the scripts and in at least one episode. It could be that Red is a nickname for her. Minor character Skeeter is revealed to be her father in Good Times with Weapons. She has similar hair and clothes to another female in her class, Wendy Testaburger. She wears a navy blue coat with a purple dress underneath. In Marjorine she was one of the girls at Heidi's sleepover. Bertha worked with Craig on the egg science project in Follow that Egg!. Bertha is often confused with Sally (a.k.a. Powder). She has the basic same appearance, but without a butterfly clip in her hair. As seen in Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset, she has made out with Stan and tried to perform fellatio on him.
Bill, Terrance and Fosse
Bill, Terrance and Fosse are schoolboys who debuted in Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride when Bill said Stan's dog Sparky was gay. They continuously laugh in deep voices much like Beavis and Butt-head and refer to many things as gay. Terrance is the son of Alphonse Mephisto, the town's mad scientist. It seems that Terrance has feelings for Bertha. In World Wide Recorder Concert, Terrance is shown sitting beside Bertha on the bus. Fosse has very little hair. Some people believe that Fosse drank so much coffee, he got stressed out and his hair just fell out. Some people believe Terrance and Bill are brothers because they look so much alike.
Clyde Donovan
Clyde Donovan (voiced by Trey Parker) is perhaps most notable as the "second fattest" kid, next to Cartman (though he looks about the same weight as the other boys), and has a nasal voice. Clyde is a brown-haired boy who wears a burgundy jacket with blue mittens and light brown pants. Unlike many of the other children, he does not wear a hat. He is often in conflict with the main characters, especially Cartman. On several occasions, when things get surreal in the show, Clyde shows little or no interest. His original last name was Goodman, but in episode 811, "Quest for Ratings", his last name was revealed as Donovan. However, in the episode "Lice Capades", he was referred to as Clyde Harris; this was changed to Donovan in later airings of the episode.
Clyde has been a background character since the first season, and makes at least one prominent appearance almost every season. In recent seasons, he has been shown to have a group of friends including Craig, Token Black and a fourth random member from their class -- usually Tweek, Jimmy, or a miscellaneous background character. Their group is usually referred to collectively as "Craig and those guys"; Craig appears to be their leader. The main South Park characters seem to view them as rivals.
Craig
Craig wears a blue hat with a yellow ball at the top. He is in the same class as Stan Marsh, Kyle Broflovski, Eric Cartman, and Kenny McCormick. He is voiced by Trey Parker and has a rather nasal voice like Clyde Donovan, a fellow classmate. He has bad behavior, tending to flip people off, resulting in constant trips to Mr. Mackey's office. Craig, however, constantly denies having done it, even a mere second afterwards; it is unclear if he does not realize he does it. It is also a family trait shown by the entire family can be seen flipping each other off during "Tweek vs. Craig".
In recent seasons, he has been shown to have a group of friends including Token Black, Clyde Donovan, and usually some other classmate (ex: Tweek and Jimmy Vulmer). Their group is usually referred to collectively as "Craig and those guys" and Craig seems to be their leader. The main South Park characters seem to view them as rivals. Craig seems to be particularly antagonistic towards them, as in "Quest for Ratings" where he opened a rival show (called "Animals Close-Up With a Wide-Angle Lens") on the school news channel, "South Park Is Gay!", and "Good Times with Weapons". He has even told Cartman to his face that he hates him in the episode Tsst.
Dog Poo
Dog Poo (voiced by Trey Parker) is a student who sits in the front row of class. He has messy, faded brown hair, dirty clothes, and a mark on the side of his jaw that may be a large mole, scab, dirt stain (similar to Pig-Pen from Peanuts), or actual dog poo. He was called Dirt by the creators until his name was stated on tv during episode 606 (Professor Chaos) where he was one of the children that Stan, Kyle, and Cartman considered as a replacement 4th friend for Kenny. Dog Poo lamented his status as a supporting character, but didn't survive the first cut. He has had no speaking lines or actions since. He has been around all the time, but never really does anything. Cartman actually mentioned this in Professor Chaos, describing him as "more of a prop".
Eric Theodore Cartman
Main article: Eric CartmanCartman is one of the four main characters and one of the most recognizable and popular characters on the show. He is self-centered, rude, overweight, and bigoted, and often acts against the other main characters.
Esther
Esther is one of Wendy's extended gang. She has black hair and wears a sky-blue jacket similar to Kevin's, although the collar is pink lace. She also wears a pink skirt. Because of the similarity in their appearances, it's highly possible that she and Kevin are twins, which would make her of Chinese descent as well. She has spoken a few times in the series, but has never had an important role. She spoke in Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society when she, Wendy, Bertha, and Millie gossiped about Bebe, and was presented as a primary character in "Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset".
Heidi Turner
Heidi Turner (originally Marcie) is one of the girl gang. She wears a light green coat with red trimming, similar to Stan Marsh's coat, and a darker green skirt. She was at first just a background character, her first lines were in Probably, the conclusion to the story arc Do the Handicapped Go to Hell?/Probably. When Cartman opened his church and the parents tried to convince the kids to return to their normal lives, Heidi went inside. Her dad said not to until a beam from the roof of Cartman's poorly made church landed on him killing him, when she stated she didn't want to go to Hell. Despite the apparent death of her father she has a different dad as seen in Marjorine. This could be a continuity error, but her mother might have gotten married again, and Heidi has developed such a close bond with her stepfather, that she simply calls him "Dad". She had a sleepover in Marjorine, became a stupid spoiled whore on one other occasion, and was paired with Eric Cartman in Follow that Egg!. There has been some speculation that she is the girl with similar dress and a purple hairclip with completely different parents in Go God Go, however she appears later in the same episode without the hairclip.
Kelly (Nelson)
Kelly is a girl who was seen prominently in Rainforest Schmainforest. She fell in love with Kenny in this episode, and, as depicted in Spontaneous Combustion, she moved to South Park. She was seen at a dance in Hooked on Monkey Phonics (apparently with Kenny, despite being killed off already). It is possible her full name is Kelly Nelson, as Cartman mentions in Miss Teacher Bangs a Boy he had made a girl named Kelly Nelson smell his finger (which he'd just stuffed up his anus) and she had puked, which made Kenny look quite angry.
Jason
Jason was originally a background character (which he still is most of the time). Jason made his debut in the episode "Professor Chaos" as one of the kids competing to replace Butters Stotch as Stan, Kyle, and Cartman's friend. Jason made it through the general friendship round, but was eliminated after the classroom round.
Jason was also prominent in the first part of the Fall 2003 run-opening episode "South Park Is Gay!", where he is part of a metrosexual gang along with Craig, Token, and Tweek. He was also part of the group who helped recover the "Cootie Catcher" in "Marjorine", waiting with Timmy outside the containment center for the rest of the boys to return.
Jason was actually named and visually modeled after a friend of Matt Stone and Trey Parker named Jason McHugh whom they met in Greeley, Colorado. McHugh appeared as a major character in Parker's film Cannibal! The Musical.
Jimmy Volmer
James "Jimmy" Volmer (formerly Jimmy Swanson), like Timmy, is physically handicapped by muscular dystrophy, but he wears braces and uses crutches to walk. He is able to speak to people, albeit with a severe stutter, although he sometimes inappropriately ends his sentences with "very much", and says "Wow, what a great audience" after telling a joke. He likes to perform stand-up comedy, with every joke including, "Have you seen this, have you heard about this?", in the fashion of Jay Leno. Voiced by Trey Parker, Jimmy's character is inspired by Tiny Tim Cratchit from Dickens' A Christmas Carol, and Blair's handicapped cousin from "The Facts of Life". He is generally a popular and gifted student at school, and he is moral and knows how to be a friend. However, he is foul-mouthed and very competitive, even to the point of taking steroids to win the special olympics. Jimmy is also one of the few students at South Park who have lost their virginity. In the episode Erection Day, he was suffering from constant erections. When Butters told him that having sex would make him stop, he went to the rough part of town and had sex with a prostitute.
He became friends with Timmy after his first appearance, being the only one who can understand Timmy's utterances. They get along very well, playing together in a The Lord of the Rings parody, teaming up against Christopher Reeve in "Krazy Kripples" and competing together in the Special Olympics in "Up the Down Steroid".
Kenny McCormick
Main article: Kenny McCormickKenny is one of the four main characters. He comes from a poor family. Kenny is known for almost always wearing an orange parka that covers much of his face and muffles his lines, for his toilet humour, and for dying in nearly every episode during the first five seasons of the show.
Kevin
Kevin (previously Casey) is amongst the boys' extended gang who have been more prominent in recent episodes. However, contrary to the other members of the extended gang, Kevin has been seen mainly as a background character. He has spoken on a couple of occasions and is voiced by Matt Stone. Kevin wears a sky blue top with a red collar and has black trousers and black hair which is much like Stan's. In the episode "Conjoined Fetus Lady", he was revealed to be Chinese American, and was asked about the Chinese dodgeball players. However, Kevin has the same set of eyes as the main characters, instead of slanted eyes, because he himself is American.
Kyle Broflovski
Main article: Kyle BroflovskiKyle is one of the four main characters. He is a Jewish kid who is often shown as more intelligent and with higher moral standards than the other main characters. He is best friends with Stan Marsh and generally hates Eric Cartman.
Leopold "Butters" Stotch
Main article: Butters StotchButters appeared in early episodes, but only became a regular character upon Kenny's departure in season 6. He has since been used as often as the main 4 boys. He has short blonde hair and an aquamarine jacket (He is also considered to be a sub-main character in south park).
Butters is nervous, naive, and repressed — while at the same time remains surprisingly optimistic and occasionally insightful. He is often punished by his overbearing parents, and exploited by his peers. Cartman often plays tricks on him resulting in Butters getting punished. Now he is often seen as Eric Cartman's sidekick, often helping Eric in his schemes.
Leroy
There are two instances of Leroy. "Leroy", a shy looking boy with brown hair and glasses, first appeared in Mystery of the Urinal Deuce. In this episode, Leroy did a Show and tell about his pet frog. In the episode, Miss Teacher Bangs a Boy , some might confuse Cartman's (As Dawg, The Bounty Hunter) partner, Leeroy, with Leroy.
Lizzy
Lizzy (as she is referred to in the official script) is a girl who is most prominent in Cartman's Silly Hate Crime 2000. She and some other girls are trying to beat the boys in a sledding race. She is always taunting the boys by calling them things such as "butt pirates" and "rump rangers." At the end of the episode, she is carried off by a bear. This makes her somewhat of a female Kenny since she wears her parka hood over her head the whole time and has a sexually advanced vocabulary. She also dies at the end of the episode. However she can be seen sitting behind Kenny on the rollercoaster in Best Friends Forever and in the back of the crowd watching Cartman begging for his money back in Cartmanland.
Lockie
Lockie is introduced as a background character (which he still is). He was a Jew scout in the episode Jewbilee. Lockie is a very shy kid and not alot of people know about him because of that. He is usually hanging out with the other background characters.
Millie
Millie has strawberry blonde hair (like Timmy). She wears a sea-green jacket and a blue jean skirt. Under her jacket, she has been shown to wear a pink T-shirt. She has spoken in Cartman's Silly Hate Crime 2000 and Bebe's Boobs Destroy Society. In Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset, she spoke with a strong Southern accent. She is friends with Bebe and Wendy. In Erection Day, she was briefly referred to as Jessie, but this might be a middle name. As implied in "The Biggest Douche in the Universe", Kenny might have a light crush on her. (While he was possessing Rob Schneider, he was trying to kiss her.)
Philip "Pip" Pirrip
Pip Pirrip is an often-mistreated character, who is heavily based on the protagonist with the same name from the Charles Dickens novel Great Expectations, even starring in Pip, a retelling of the novel. Trey Parker and Matt Stone hated the novel; the explanation that Dickens' Pip gives for his nickname is the same one South Park's Pip gives for his. He is an unpopular and awkward British exchange student who is frequently mistaken for being French, which often causes him to go into a rage. Before coming to South Park, he attended Stratfordshire Primary in Stratford, London, and excelled in archery. Though a once prominent character, Pip's role declined due to the increasing usage of Butters. He is usually seen as a background character playing with the other boys.
Sally Turner (Powder)
Sally (a.k.a. Powder) was first seen in Rainforest Schmainforest as part of the Getting Gay With Kids choir but has been seen in the 4th grade class since. It is also rumoured that she wears a stuffed bra. People used to recognise her as the red haired girl. She has similar hair and clothes to two other females in her class, Wendy Testaburger and Bertha. She wears a blue sweater with a green skirt. In Marjorine she was one of the girls at Heidi's sleepover. In the more recent episodes, most notably Follow that Egg!, she has been called Powder, though this could be simply a nickname.
Stan Marsh
Main article: Stan MarshStan is one of the four main characters. He is usually good-natured and clear-thinking. He is best friends with Kyle Broflovski.
Timmy
Timmy, voiced by Trey Parker, is a child with orange hair who uses a wheelchair, although he can actually stand and walk somewhat without it. He usually only says his own name and the slurred phrase "livin' a lie." In some episodes, he says some other basic words such as names like "Gobbles", the name of his pet turkey, or small phrases. Timmy was originally described as being mentally retarded, but over time his character has become described less as such and more often as "disabled." In various episodes (such as "Up the Down Steroid") he appears to be quite cognizant, intelligent and principled. Timmy is friends with South Park's other disabled character, Jimmy, who can actually understand what Timmy is saying. In the first episode in which Jimmy appears, "Cripple Fight", Timmy is intensely jealous of him and even tries to have him killed (by giving him a parka that made him look like Kenny). Later on, however, the two are shown as being friends.
Timmy first appears in the episode "The Tooth Fairy Tats 2000." His scenes from that episode have little importance to the central plot, and Comedy Central originally wanted to cut Timmy out, due to the controversial nature of including a mentally handicapped character. Creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker, pushed hard for his inclusion however; their basis of Timmy was to show that, though Timmy was different, the other South Park children treated him normally. Originally intended for only one episode, Timmy proved so popular he was given his own episode, "Timmy 2000".
In it, he is part of a successful band, singing lead for Timmy and the Lords of the Underworld, despite his limited vocabulary. During the episode, people complain that he is being exploited, even though he achieves extreme popularity. The message at the end of the episode, however, was that since Timmy enjoyed playing music, and people enjoyed him playing, there was nothing wrong with it. In the same episode, his parents, Richard and Helen, were shown to have the exact same condition as him, revealing that his condition may be genetic.
Token Black
Token Black is voiced by Adrien Beard. In a satire on racial stereotypes, Token's family is the wealthiest of the families shown on South Park, leaving him to be mocked for being different. His name was revealed as Token Williams, this stayed the same until the season eight episode "Quest for Ratings" in which it changed to Token Black. (See tokenism.) Since season six he, along with many of the other classmates, has been featured more prominently. Racism has also been a theme based around Token. Since the demise of Chef, Token and his parents are the only African-Americans in the whole town.
Token, as revealed in "Christian Rock Hard", can play a bass line after Cartman told him he could, because he's black. This is one of the many racist stereotypes Cartman aims at Token in this episode. As well as playing instruments, Token also has a talent at singing, as revealed in the episode Wing. He sang for the Ms. Colorado Beauty Pagent and won $200. He eventually lost his money when he hired an agent and wound up serving drinks at Sylvester Stallone's son's wedding.
Token is also notable as the character that, aside from Stan and Kyle, is least affected by Cartmans attempts at manipulation, probably as a part of his overall coolness, and to the annoyance of Cartman.
Tommy
Tommy appeared in Tweek vs. Craig. He was in shop class and got his face caught in the sander removing it. In a later scene his face returned, apparently unharmed.
Tweek
(?) Tweek is introduced during season 2. His surname is taken from a slang term referring to recreational users of methamphetamine, as well as hyperactive or dysfunctional people in general. His first name has never been given; that might be because he doesn't like it. In "Professor Chaos", Tweek was chosen as the fourth friend of the main characters during a reality television spoof in which Kyle, Stan, and Cartman remove Butters from their group. He was a member of the group for five episodes in the middle of the sixth season, after which he returned to his previous minor-character role.
He is portrayed as a hyperactive boy who has messy blonde hair, generally wears a grey-green shirt buttoned incorrectly, and dark blue jeans. Tweek is noted for his quirky mannerisms; he is always nervous and jittery and usually overdosed on caffeine, leading to extreme paranoia and hyperactivity. In addition, he claims that "I can't sleep... ever." His voice is usually strained, and he tends to scream, "GAH! Too much pressure, I can't take it!!" or some variation thereof. In the episode "Free Hat", he appears to practice fatalism. Also ironically, in this episode all events caused Tweek to be put in very stressful situations. Tweek's parents run a coffee shop, and attempt to calm him using coffee; this has the effect of increasing his caffeine levels and worsening his mental state, however no one ever makes the connection because Tweek, like Timmy, has been incorrectly diagnosed with ADD, but unlike Timmy, actually shows reasonably similar symptoms to the disorder.
One odd thing about Tweek is, as stated above, he has professed that he can never sleep. Yet in "Child Abduction is not Funny", he is seen sleeping in bed before the Ghost of Human Kindness appears. This is most likely a continuity error.
Wendy Testaburger
Wendy Testaburger has been voiced by four people during the series' run: Mary Kay Bergman, Mona Marshall, Eliza Schneider, and recently April Stewart. She is very outspoken, often spouting out support for any liberal cause. Though, Wendy's character as a liberal and a feminist is sometimes inconsistent in various episodes. Wendy wears a pink beret, a light purple jacket, and a yellow skirt (though sometimes, such as "South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut", she wears yellow trousers instead). She also wears dark blue mittens. Underneath her beret is a head of long black hair with bangs. Wendy's character is based on Liane Adamo, a former fiancee of South Park creator Trey Parker. and was named after the wife of Matt Stone's friend.
In the show's beginning, Wendy was mostly important as Stan's love interest. Wendy would often attempt to talk with Stan, which would make him so nervous he would vomit, causing her to scream "Ew!" and leave. Early on in the series, Wendy became Stan's girlfriend, but later in the series they seemed to lose interest in each other. She officially broke up with Stan in the Season 7 episode "Raisins." She later dates Token Black but nothing longstanding happens. In one episode (Stupid Spoiled Whore Video Playset), it is evidently clear she feels guilty for dumping Stan and is taking it as hard as he did. However, Stan seemed to still show feelings for her in the episode "Follow that Egg!", in which he was insanely jealous of Kyle for working on a school project with Wendy, and was convinced that Kyle had a relationship with her. It is also clear she still has feelings for him, as she has evidently tried at least once to get him to take her back, but he has made it very clear that he is not going to let her get away with breaking his heart.
Other Students
The 6th Graders
The 6th Graders are the older bullies at South Park Elementary. They are obsessed with girls and pornography and scaring younger kids. Despite being tough all of them were hospitalised by Trent Boyett in Pre-School, all of them receiving a different bully-related injury.
Dougie
Dougie is a second grader, a first grader in his first appearance, but since then the boys moved from third to fourth grade, making Dougie older. He is a red-haired boy with freckles. In Professor Chaos, Dougie is one of the people not picked to be Kenny's replacement after Butters is fired. He spots Butters changing into his new found alter-ego Professor Chaos. Deciding that he is an outcast like Butters, he joins Butters and becomes General Disarray. Their plot of flooding the world fails followed by their plot to destroy the ozone layer with aerosol cans. He continues to help Butters in his imaginary schemes in later episodes.
Goth Kids
The Goth Kids are a group of very stereotypical goths, first appearing in the episode Raisins. They rarely go to school and prefer to sit around all day drinking coffee and smoking. They constantly go on about how pointless and painful life is. They also like to go to the cemetery often, where they write poems about death and sorrow. They take to calling those who are not goths "conformists" or "Britney Spears/Justin Timberlake wannabes." The Goth Kids continually talk about "the conformists," whom they strive to be different from, yet, paradoxically, all conform to Gothic clichés themselves. Only the Goth girl Henrietta has an official name in the show.
- Goth Leader: The 'Goth Leader' is the oldest Goth Kid and leader of their gang. He is taller than the others and has a large nose and curly black hair that sticks out. His head is larger than his body. The Goth leader is voiced by Trey Parker. His role in the Goth Kids' band is the vocalist. He also joined the dance troupe Stan put together in "You Got F'd in the A," as a way of non-conforming to the other Goths, who found it too conformist. His parents split up, which could be the reason behind his choice to follow the goth lifestyle.
- Kindergoth: A kindergartener Goth Kid. He is the youngest and smallest of the Goth Kids and has short black hair, with a long side-swept fringe. Like the other Kindergarteners he is voiced by a real kindergartener with a garbled voice. He says that most people are "Nazi conformist cheerleaders", and that he is the "biggest non-conformist of all". He plays drums in the Goth Kids' band.
- Henrietta: Henrietta is the only female goth kid. She is constantly seen smoking, (more so than the others). Her bedroom is another place where the Goths hang out. She is short and plump, with layered black hair and long bangs. She plays the keyboard in their band. Her mother is seen in "Raisins;" though she is cheery and seems completely accepting of Henrietta's Goth lifestyle, citing it as "creative," Henrietta refers to her as a "conformist bitch".
- Fringe-Flicking Goth Kid: Another male Goth Kid, who is around the same height and age as Henrietta. Most notable for the fact he constantly flicks his long fringe out of the way when it gets in his eyes. He has black hair with dyed red streaks, and he wears purple shoes. He especially likes drinking coffee, and he plays the bass guitar in their band.
Kindergarteners
The Kindergarteners were first introduced when Mr. Garrison was made their teacher after losing his job as the third grade teacher. The kindergarteners are voiced by real-life toddlers and speak in garbled baby talk. Among the toddlers is Ike Broflovski, who joined the class as a three year old and became class president in the episode "Trapper Keeper" after defeating Filmore, whose aunt is Rosie O'Donnell.
