This is a list of Wikipedians who, for various reasons, are unfortunately no longer an integral part of our community. Some of them have left goodbye messages of one sort or another, often on their user page.

Other Wikipedians have left for an extended period and were listed here at some point, but have since returned, in which case they are no longer "missing".

  • -- April (talk · contribs) - last edit Dec 02, 2003.
    • She has a couple edits in 2004 and 2005. Just busy elsewhere, it seems (see her user page.)
  • 168... (talk · contribs) blanked his user page and was presumed to have left on March 7 2004 following disputes arising from the handling of "subvandalism" (see e.g. DNA)
  • 172 (talk · contribs) left on 2 March 2005. "I will no longer contribute to Misplaced Pages. The project is no longer workable. There are no signs of Misplaced Pages developing an authoritative public review process... I will return, however, if there are any changes allowing me to become a more efficacious user in the future."
  • Abigail-II (talk · contribs), left 13 June 2004, blanked talk page and left message on Village Pump, explaining that too many people were deleting material without discussion on talk pages. "I've no interest in working on a system where people break down your work without discussing it on appropriate page."
  • Amgine (talk · contribs) Has ended active involvement in en:Misplaced Pages due to the Matter of CheeseDreams in which the user was harrassed, stalked, group-reverted, admins abused their privileges - and there was no mention by the arbcom. The system is gamed.
  • Ark30inf (talk · contribs) left on October 24 2003 saying "I have found that if you are not here to do battle then nobody will listen to you. Thats not what I am about." He requested de-adminship and the deletion of his user page on 22 February 2004. "I then returned in late 2004 and tried to stick to just editing Arkansas articles to avoid stupid conflicts. Its an area that nobody appeared interested in at all. Then I got jumped on for the way I categorized my articles and all of them reverted before I even was given an opportunity to discuss the way I categorized my articles. I stepped on someone's pet peeve and they didn't feel like waiting to hear what I had to say. It was somehow URGENT to revert all the Arkansas categorization for some reason. Screw it. Thats my LAST attempt at Misplaced Pages."
  • Brandon.irwin (talk · contribs) left on July 23, 2004, saying he felt that the project was fraught too much with errors and inconsistencies.
  • Chmod007 (talk · contribs) (David Remahl) - last edit Dec 2, 2004. Left a note saying "Enough is enough. Misplaced Pages will conquer the world, but I've got other things to do. At least for now."
  • Corvus13 (talk · contribs) "Fine. I give up. Delete everything I've ever written. There appears to be some personal thing here where if you're not part of the clique, you're not welcome. Goodbye."
  • Didup (talk · contribs) - last edit 31 Mar 2005 - doesn't usually edit around here.
  • Dr Zen (talk · contribs) - Last logged-in edit March 12, 2005. Quoting a wikien-l message from jwales on his user page: "And linking _very conveniently_ acknowledges that for a great many users, having the choice to simply click or not can be very very useful." He also left a goodbye message for certain Wikipedians with his last four edits.
  • EddEdmondson (talk · contribs) - after editing off and on since 2002, left a note on his user page indicating that he's left.
  • Fonzy (talk · contribs) - retired May 2004: " I don't like change much (which some will probably know or guess why). I prefered Misplaced Pages more when it was smaller and I felt part of a mob."
  • Fvw (talk · contribs) - last edit February 6, 2005. "Misplaced Pages is great fun and becoming a wonderful encyclopaedia, however it has sapped away too much of my time, time better spent on more creative outlets. I wish you all good luck and thanks for the wonderful work!"
  • Gianfranco (talk · contribs) disappeared in February 2003 after making thousands of contributions in the English Misplaced Pages.
  • Hephaestos (talk · contribs) - last edit 8 May 2005 - has decided to leave after all. See his user page.
    • We're (other users) so sorry to that hear you're leaving and we understand how much you're tired of being around here. You must have been a contributer though, except when you reverted the edits on any article. I apologized for vandalizing part of your user page (if I did), but I didn't over times before you left this site. We miss you, please come back anytime! -- Mike Garcia | talk 00:59, 3 May 2005
  • Imran (talk · contribs) - Last edit: 3rd November, 2004 to say "Note: I am (as of Sept 04) curently inactive on Misplaced Pages".
  • Isis (talk · contribs) (February 2003) - got into a legal dispute with another contributor and quit over it
  • Jorge Stolfi (talk · contribs) - last edit 16 Dec 2004 - once a prolific contributor, was offered Adminship with only a few months as a registered user, but declined nomination. His contributions then started to scarce, until ceasing completely in the above-mentioned date. Reasons for departure are unknown, although it is possible that professional obligations may be keeping him away from the project.
  • Kimiko (talk · contribs) - contributor since summer 2003, blanked her user and talk pages in Feb 2005.
  • Lizard King (talk · contribs) Told me by email he has chosen to leave the wikipedia due to the harassment he recieved over contributing his drawings and sketches. Sam Spade 06:24, 25 Feb 2004 (UTC)
  • Lucky 6.9 (talk · contribs) - Left in good stead 9 May 2005 to pursue other interests. He encourages contact via e-mail.
  • Lypheklub (talk · contribs) - had his request for adminship rejected because he had not been here long enough, and left shortly thereafter.
  • Marnanel (talk · contribs) - Last (logged in) edit: 18 Sep 2004. Left in solidarity with his wife when she was insulted less than a week after she started editing. Come back, Marn - don't let the buggers get you down.
  • Mintguy (talk · contribs) - last edit: 13 Nov 2004. "It has stopped being fun. The lunatics are taking over the asylum." See his userpage for more information
  • Notheruser (talk · contribs) left on 17 August 2003 giving no reason, but stating "I'm taking an indefinite break from Misplaced Pages."
    • Very sad. Notheruser was a great contributer. Ilyanep 17:00, 25 Jan 2004 (UTC)
  • Optim (talk · contribs): Administrator and Bureaucrat. Missed since 19:00 PM (UTC), March 6, 2004. Optim came to Misplaced Pages in 2003 because he wanted to help with the creation of free educational material. He started 115 new articles and contributed more than 19 photos he took using his digital camera. He decided to leave because he felt fed up with some particular Wikipedians. He wishes to everyone Good Luck and PEACE PROFOUND. Optim 19:08, 6 Mar 2004 (UTC)
    • He blocked himself for a period of one year. We'll be very lucky to have him back, whenever he decides its worth it. Like all of us, he has a lot of things to do, and when he tallied up the stresses and satisfactions... The stress-o-meter was a multiple of the satisfaction meter :( Let's try to make this profoundly beneficial contributor feel as welcome and happy as possible, if and when he returns. Sam Spade 04:03, 8 Mar 2004 (UTC)
  • Rbs (talk · contribs) - has not posted since March 11, 2004. No explanation. I hope he is ok, and that he returns soon. Kingturtle 00:41, 10 Apr 2004 (UTC)
    • Did some editing in July and again in September. Probably not "missing", just an infrequent denizen of the wiki. Isomorphic 00:10, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Renata (talk · contribs) - Once a regular contributer now a long term dissapearee. Last edit 1 Mar 2004
  • Secretlondon (talk · contribs) - "I don't edit here any more.", 22 July 2004
    • This really sucks, IMO. A lot. If anyone wants details, see the entry about her departure in his LiveJournal at . blankfaze | (беседа!) 09:12, 2 Aug 2004 (UTC)
      • To note here, few of the charges she makes are accurate: Jimbo never banned Danny, only the English Misplaced Pages uses fair use images, Misplaced Pages is arguably far more international being in over a hundred languages to Wikitravel's five, Jimbo's "rude email" (the "final straw") was months before Secretlondon's departure and immediately followed by an apology (though I can identify with being provoked by her anti-American rhetoric), and calling Jimbo a "United States rightist" is quite a stretch. VeryVerily 20:04, 17 Dec 2004 (UTC)
  • Sjc (talk · contribs) left a note at User:Sjc/Goodbye explaining that "While a worthwhile project, is now so wrapped and warped by policy and little cliques that it barely qualifies as a wiki in any meaningful sense of the word."
  • Skellam (talk · contribs) - blanked his userpage and unsubscribed from WikiProject on 16 Nov 2004; no reason given. JFW | T@lk 18:01, 16 Nov 2004 (UTC)
  • Vancouverguy (talk · contribs) - On Feb. 20, 2004 , "I think I've officially "disappeared" now. You can call me a "missing Wikipedian" although I might edit anonymously."
  • Zestauferov (talk · contribs) - Last edit: 1 September, 2004. Brief return on March 19, 2005 to update User and User talk pages.
  • Zoney (talk · contribs) - last substantial editing: 3 April 2005. Had to give up editing to write a thesis. Have grown to like being "free" of Misplaced Pages (despite my love of editing). Afraid to be "sucked in" again. I may be back sometime. I don't know when. Goodbye. zoney talk 15:00, 23 Apr 2005 (UTC)

  • º¡º (talk · contribs) aka BigFatBuddha (talk · contribs) - Last contribution 4 May 2003. Left comment on Talk page: "I've wandered far afield, and am likely not to return. My illusions were reduced when I found the mailing list, and found how little was thought of me."

See also Misplaced Pages drop-outs for some more detail on some past "drop-outs" and Wikistress for some suggestions on how to avoid burning out and needing to leave in the first place.
