Mark Morrison (born 3 May 1972, in Hanover, Germany) was a British musician raised in Leicester, most famous for his hit "Return of the Mack". He was also known for his string of criminal convictions, notably a one year sentence for getting someone else to do his community service for another offence and protesting his innocence.
Mark Morrison started his professonal music career in Leicester with a local producer named(Cam) of which he had his first number 1 underground white label hit a soul single called (where is your love) mark subsiquently never paid this first producer.
He then found other local producers 1992/3 called (Allexander Vibes and Zeller Turnstyle who were also never paid) in which he recorded "Crazy" as a white label, when the track was first publicly played at a local night club called "Crystals" in Leicester, "Julian Long" a local student attending the same event was subsiquenly Murdered by 4 assialents one of which was Mark Morrison, the 4 defendents to this crime where sentenced to a total of 41 years in jail, the yougest of these convics died from an asma attack as the prison services never realised the seveity of his condition, Mark recieved 6 months probation for his involvement tho not deemed critilcal in the crime. The track Crazy subsiquently went to number 1 in the UK soul charts securing a Major record deal for Mark, whilst he was serving a 180hrs community service for the above crime Mark took it upon himself to replace himself with an imposter to serve his community order because of record company contractual arrangemts.
Because Mark was found to have broken the terms of the community order he was further sentanced to 18 months inprisonment.
"Crazy" the single was released by Warner Bo's in 1996 where it reached #19 in the national UK charts.
On release from prison Mark went on to record "Return of the Mac" with Warner Bro's which went to #1 UK and 18 months later #3 USA.
After the success of Return of the Mac, Crazy was re-released and reached #6 in the UK chart, with the promotional influence of the film "Speed 2" which grossed 9.42 million dollars in the first week of release world wide.
Despite his career success, Morrison continued to be accused of various crimes, and in 1997 he was convicted of an undercover policeman with a stun gun into a super market.. He was jailed for three months for this offence in early 1997, at about the same time that the single "Return of the Mac" began its climb to the #3 slot in the United States US charts, and was pulled from the shelves worldwide and later he was banned from driving when he was caught driving unsupervised in his Mercedes whilst with a provisional license.
IN 2005 Mark released the flop Album called "Innocent Man" by Death Row Records (Editor) I wonder why? It seems death follows this man around?
