Revision as of 07:29, 5 July 2007 by Eep² (talk | contribs) (→External links: link fix)(diff) ← Previous revision | Latest revision (diff) | Newer revision → (diff)Toby Gard is a former computer game character designer (the original designer of Lara Croft) at Core Design, the company that developed the popular Tomb Raider video game series until Tomb Raider: Angel of Darkness. Gard left Core Design after the first Tomb Raider was released, because he was vehemently opposed to the marketing of Lara's sex appeal for Tomb Raider II. Later, he developed the Xbox game Galleon at Confounding Factor, a game development studio he and co-developer Paul Douglas founded in April 1997. After finishing that game in 2004, he was hired by Eidos (publisher and copyright holder of the Tomb Raider series who dropped Core Design and moved the project to Crystal Dynamics) to work with Crystal Dynamics on the next title in the series named Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Legend. However, his role was limited in this game to an advisor/consultant rather than a designer of the game. He is now back in London, England working for Eidos on forthcoming projects. However, he was the lead designer in Lara Croft Tomb Raider: Anniversary.
