"dead red blood cells for color"? This sounds like the purpose of putting red blood cells is to color it, which I find hard to believe. I thought dead red cells were taken care of in the spleen, and finding them in the feces were abnormal. -phma

Try this:

The reddish-brown color of feces is derived from bilirubin? (and bacterial action on bilirubin, I believe).

Do we really need to mention slang for shit in every possible language? To susnig i could add merde, the german word (i can pronounce but can't spell it), and probably one or more slang words in every language on earth.

Also, what is the Misplaced Pages policy on images? Someone could add images of the droppings of many different animals, such as dog, or human... (images of both are easy to acquire...)

What about bird feces? Why is it green, even though they eat dried seeds? Also explain how the white part is the actually the "urine" after most of the water is reabsorbed. –radiojon 06:23, 2003 Sep 18 (UTC)

Any objections to adding flatulence to "See Also"? I always figured farting and shitting are so closely intertwined -- sometimes unexpectedly and embarassingly so -- that it warrants a spot in the See Also for feces.


Why is there no picture of fresh feces? I understand there are problems with obtaining legal pictures on other Misplaced Pages pages but obtaining a picture of fresh feces is probably one of the easiest things.
